Where do you get rid of used hydraulic fluid?

I'm burning motor oil mixed with diesel (50/50ish) in my Chinese diesel heater to heat my shop. About $120 online.
Now you’re talking!

Could be New York vs Louisiana disposal rules, especially post-Katrina when much changed after 300,000 cars were totaled.

As the most toxic state in the country (we flip a coin with New Jersey) I just want to make sure I do my part in keeping the soil and water as clean as it will get. I’m willing to pay a small fee to dump it.

I’m going to call a couple tractor repair places tomorrow to see where they get rid of theirs or whoever picks it up for them.
NY requires that anyone who sells hydraulic or motor oil to collect it for recycling, it's odd that they won't take it as hydraulic oil should be cleaner than motor oil (no soot/heavy metals in most cases).

Usually, I can take my used hydraulic oil and motor oil to the auto parts store. Good thing since I mix them. Coolant disposal is my problem. I think a lot of people mix it with the oil, but that doesn't seem right to me.

Never mix antifreeze or brake fluid with drain oil. It's really corrosive to the high pressure nozzles on waste oil heaters.

Check local auto wrecker or waste disposal site. Most take it free.

I like that idea but it would have to be a service center. Lots of discount retailers here besides auto parts stores sell fluids.

I also bought my last UDT2 online 400 hours ago and UPS delivered it. I haven’t started pricing it yet. I’m kind of scared to find out.

Our Tractor Supply has a 250 gallon bulk tank in the back of the store, I've taken them multiple 5 gallon buckets of hydraulic fluid (was flushing out a tractor that had water in the transmission from sitting with cracked boots) and they just dumped the buckets into the tank, just like they do with the used motor oil.

I try to make sure that I'm using Tractor Supply brand hydraulic fluid buckets if I'm taking the used oil to them.

I take mine to the city dumps where they have a metal recycling and oil return area. Pull up and they take all the containers of oil, antifreeze, unwanted liquid etc you have and you never have to leave the truck.

I tried to take oil to O'reillys and Napa and other places in times past, but then I need to take the oil from my truck and load it onto cards and truck it through the store and dump into the barrel they have set up, sometimes making a mess of things.

If you have a wooden fence use it to paint it as its water proof
