Tractor
John deere 990
I stopped at Iowa Farm Equipment near Tipton, Iowa couple days ago. I acknowledge I did drive into an apparent exit drive. As I was viewing a tractor and flail chopper I had all intentions of purchasing, I was blindsided by a man who said I came in wrong way, which I did. First time I have ever been talked to so rudely over driving in to view an anticipated piece of equipment I intended to purchase. Was told I "blew" through his cones. I was moving slowly looking at equipment as I was going. Not sure that is called blowing through but I guess it is his business and apparently is so good you don't need more sales. I have read reviews prior to coming there and dismissed the negative remarks. That was first mistake, second one was actually going there. As I drove quietly out of his lot I noticed him taking a picture of my plate. That in itself tells me I would never recommend this place. And per his previous replies to criticism, I "am not a customer". He made sure I was not. Shame as I had money on hand to purchase without financing. If there were 10 stars to rate I would not give one good one. Possibly could have if given opportunity to view equipment but never got chance. Terrible experience.

Wow, you upset his entire security system. Kind of glad I live in a small town. Picture of the local equipment dealer.

I dunno, I kinda take offense to your name…..

Did ya ever think there could be more to the story?

Used to be a local Massey dealer like that around here. Ran around yelling at staff and customers. Have no idea how he ever built a business. They pulled his dealership but not before he cost them plenty of customers.
Some people are just like that.
Be glad you came in the wrong way. At least you didn't waste any time getting to know him/them.

Probably won't stay in business long acting like that.

5 years ago, I ordered an $8K flail mower from the Iowa Farm Equipment website and had it shipped to the east coast. It arrived sooner than promised but was missing some small parts. They were proprietary to the machine and couldn't be purchased locally. I called and spoke to a very helpful person who promptly shipped the missing parts. Not sure if it was the same guy or not though.

The price wasn't great but I needed the implement right away. I normally deal locally but they were the only dealer who had this particular unit in stock. Overall, I was satisfied with the transaction.

Just my experience though, so take it for what it's worth.

Yea, when I hear a story such as this I take it for what it's worth to me, which is nothing. At 65 years old I have been in a lot of situations with a lot of different people from devout Christians to the most unsavory individuals you could run into. An experience like this is highly unusual. People typically don't act like that unprovoked. I see no merit in putting a black eye on someone's business with a story like this. There's usually an agenda when someone joins for the sole purpose of posting something like this. I'm sure there is much more to this story than what we have read.

Pretty much exactly how I felt when I read it! Very well put!

And @"Better of with Deere" will probably only post again to say we are all bad for not 100% agreeing with him and drinking his kool-aid.
First post and it is an advertisement for Deere and an advertisment telling us not to shop at a location that takes sales away from ..........

I only even looked at this because as I am looking for a Ditch Flail Mower, this place came up a few times.

Peruzzousa, ACMA and Iowa Farm Equipment websites all show the same address in Tipton. Rather strange for a small town in Iowa. Seems he does a lot of internet business. Not sure what to think, but it seemed odd.

If this wasn’t this persons first post it might mean something. As it is I’m not sure what to make of it, he came on here to badmouth a dealer and may or may not make another appearance.
It is his first thread and first post….

Click on his name above and it shows his stats

I will say that the damaged, used Worksaver stump grinder I purchase a while ago came from them via a Tractorhouse auction and while it was not represented correctly by the seller (bad gearbox and welded poorly main frame), I had no issue with them shipping it to me and they even arranged the shipping on a hot shot which was less than a big truck would have been.

I did part it out and recovered some of what I paid and chalked the rest up to my stupidity

My experience with them was all good.

When someone comes on here and posts a rant like that with their first post, I tend to heavily discount it anyway and like Paul Harvey always said, 'here's the rest of the story'.

Typically these are one and done posts. I don't expect him to come back and post again but he may surprise me. Most keyboard warriors don't have the cajones to support their stance on something like this. Maybe the business is not a retail, walk up business. I suspect that's the case. We have several of those in our area. They are strictly internet and 2 auctions a year. They don't sell retail.

The dealer may have had issues with thefts so they want people to drive in past the showroom so they can monitor their inventory. If people are seen sneaking in the back way, they may have an attitude towards them. They may wonder why they can't seem to read the signs or are they there to steal from them. As other's have said, we don't know the whole story....now if there was a video we could watch!

As mentioned earlier, I was “put off” by the OP’s screen name, and it did not help that I read it after waking up at 4 AM….

But the whole post was questionable in my sleepy mind, and when I had looked at his stats, it only added to my curiosity

I’m not fond of beating up all the second tier manufacturers of tractors. I have only owned 2 tractors, an old 8 N that my father in law willed me, and my CT 235, both tractors I have never regretted having.

I have looked at green and orange, both great brands, but not do great in my mind that I should have to surrender my hard earned gold just to be able to say I’m in the “ club”!

I have no experience with the foreign brands, but I do own the American “big three”, green (JD), red (IH), and blue/grey (Ford). I like them all but the green is my favorite. I’m thankful that they are still in buiseness and I can sympathize with op.

I wonder what percentage of JD has yanmar (foreign BUSINESS) engines……

I have driven past Iowa Farm Equipment several times on I80 and occasionally see vehicles in there lot. Have stopped in once and they were civil and polite like most other dealers I have worked with. I believe a big portion of their business is internet and majority of product they carry are not what the large grain farmers would use.
