Hey everyone, looking to mount a strobe light bar to the roof and was looking for ideas on how everyone has done it to there tractor. Any ideas are much appreciated.
I use the existing brackets. It's not a 'bar' but a single strobe. You can have two, one on each side. The plug should be there, its not a regular 12v plug. Its called a 'Hella Plug" here is the link:
What I did was drill a hole in a small length of plate steel, I think 2in wide. I then welded round stock to the other side of the plate steel from the hole. I bent that round bar 90 degrees and attached it to the beacon. Wired it up and and done.
Fabbed up this mount from old mirror brackets. I already had these inexpensive strobes and the little momentary switch that changes the 32 strobe patterns. All I had to buy was the Hella Plug mentioned earlier.
I've used a halfway long (wide if you will) bar on top of the cab for years now. The magnets are plenty strong to keep it in place on the roll bar even with the plastic roof in between.
$35.99 on Amazon, should be magnetic base, plugs into 12v oitlet, and not sure about this specific model, but has a rocker switch to turn it one, common on construction vehicles, mail cars, ect. I believe yellow/amber is 50 state legal; I think white is not allowed in Texas; I'm pretty sure green/white is allowed some states, but not all.
