Will UAW Strike?

As for their butterburgers, I don't care for how they make them upside down. Lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, etc. should go on top of the meat, not under it. I think they do that to keep the grease from soaking the bottom of the bun.

So I turn it over and am quite happy. ;)

I'd have to drive into the city to get to Culver's. Not many in Texas, but my daughter lives near 1 and works near another. They were a staple when we lived in WI. Company was good partners for school. Parents could buy gift cards with 25% going to the school.
My wife and son are eating at Culver's this evening. His private school gets a percentage of the receipts and they are raising money to pay for the fieldtrip bus for 5th and 6th grade.

.tough to get out for under $10 anymore. Remember when McD's advertised change from your dollar?
I remember when full burgers were 10 cents, and I worked at a pet shop making the princely sum of $1.85/hour to pay for that and the gas at $0.25/gallon.

Culvers still is...btw. I'm 73 and I never go to McDees and won't. Neither will I patronize any Burglar king either.

Never tried the curd burger at Culvers. I like the double bacon butter burger with no onion or the cod sandwich or the cod dinner, 3 piece and a large strawberry shake (with real strawberries in it that tend to plug up my straw...) Wife usually gets a Bacon Butter burger and onion rings and we always manage to keep the entire meal under 30 bucks and actually sit on upholstered seats and our meals are delivered to our table by a courteous person. Finally the Culvers we frequent is always very clean and we go there so much we have actually gotten to know the manager and there is really no turnover in employees either so they must pay them well and I would presume offer benefits like healthcare as well. It's always busy too, especially the drive through.

Either we go to Culvers or a nice sit down Mexican restaurant south of us that is a one off privately owned place with killer Mexican food and again a sit down place but the cost is about the same so long as my wife don't have any alcohol. Killer soft taco's made just right. 3 each is all we can handle. Smothered in lettuce and diced tomatoes with sour cream on the side. Consistently great food and reasonable prices considering the constantly increasing cost of the food stuffs need to prepare their dishes.

I don't mind paying 30 bucks for a sit down meal, especially when it's served to us by courteous waitstaff and we always tip commensurate with the service provided, something we don't have to do at Culvers but we always comment about their superlative service anyway. Yes, I have a Culvers stuffed toy on my car dash.

back to the strike. Nothing has changed as far as Stellantis and the UAW negotiating as in they won't even deal with the UAW presently so I suspect they will assuredly strike them and GM because GM made their offer witch Fain rejected. Not sure about Fords even though I already am privy to their stance. Tomorrow night at midnight is the end of the current contract and I really want them to strike, high time the UAW gets a lesson in recessionary economics. just like the teamsters did with YRC.

Interestingly I found out on another forum I frequent that the non union automakers in the south, employ more autoworkers (called associates there) than the big 3 employ in unionized autoworkers and the 'associates base wages are in the mid 20's per hour not including ancillary benefits which is markedly below what UAW workers make. I guess not having to pony up union dues with every paycheck makes up for that difference.

The UAW can go on strike now. My new grocery getter came in Monday afternoon, picked it up today.

Dude, you must go through a boatload of groceries!

Congrats on the new toy.

I am wondering how much of the hard stance of the uaw is due to other relationships the uaw has and events coming up in the next 12-14 months.

The UAW is now talking about targeted strikes. Only striking at certain places.

What does that accomplish. It's like they have one foot in and one foot out.

Outstanding leadership at work here.

Watch as OEMs shift work to other plants and people outside of the uaw or oems try to stop them. Kind of like when they tried to stop Boeing from moving work to NC.
