My current battery is a Group 24N and 13 years old. It still starts the tractor good, but I want to replace it before cold weather is here so it doesn't let me down when i got a pile of snow to move. I discovered that I can't buy a Group 24N battery anymore and all the Group 24 automotive batteries are now 9" high vs my 24N battery is 8". It doesn't look to me that the existing 'bolt(hook)', Ref. #110 on the Kubota Parts diagram is long enough to accommodate an extra inch of battery height. Has anyone found a different battery to fit the existing hold down bracket or what have you done to mount the taller battery? I'd prefer not to resort to using a bunge cord to hold the battery down. I also thought of drilling holes in the base metal at the front of the battery and installing vertical hold down bolts with a bracket. Not a big problem, but I thought I'd check with you guys in case someone had a simpler solution. I guess you know your tractor is getting old when the battery sizes change while you still own it.
