Yep, the military is the only thing keeping the dollar the reserve currency of the world.

Empires don't last forever. If we keep putting Ukraine and now Israel on the credit card...it just puts the financial collapse closer.

At that point, Unions will fail to matter.
Very much agree.

Lawyers, guns and money.
It’s all we have and the money is going fast.
I don’t mind the guns, we’re going to need them. Israel should make it mandatory that every adult is given an Uzi and firearms training.
The lawyers chasing ambulances can all take a flying leap.

Me? I’m turning back to God.

Do you guys have to pass smog on older cars all the way back to 1976 like I do in California?

Cars bodies last seemingly forever here but emissions is responsible for many cars in the junkyard.
In my state (N.H.) anything older than 20 years is exempt from emissions checks (basically an OBDII check).
In the northeast rust is and always has been the main reason vehicles are retired from the road. It's a lot better now, but still a 15 year old vehicle is considered old. Still better than 40 years ago when you were lucky to get 5 out of a Japanese vehicle, maybe 7-8 on an American or European one.
I think a lot of people understand that the country is in big financial troubles, but other than casting their vote for candidates that SAY they will work to cut spending and balance the budget. What are they to do? If there is to be true change, some very unpopular decisions are going to have to be made and I'm afraid it probably isn't going to happen.
And that's the trouble...everyone wants "somebody else" to pay more or get less.

.
Here it was 25 and then 30 and in a surprise move it was frozen at 1976.

Smog mechanics are clueless when it comes to carbs on a 1976 car is my experience and I have two 1976 cars... just my luck.

If they were 1975 I would be home free and more valuable.

I don't either and very illegal and any LEO can cite and anyone with a phone can report offenders anonymously.

I do have an issue of government going after a form of public exchange where eBay is not the producer or user nor the seller

Maybe we can go after the phone company for telemarketing scams...?

So will eBay or Amazon be sued if someone in California buys 2-stroke brush cutter parts as these are illegal to operate in many California cities...?

Repair shops here can't even start the engine to repair or test.

It's a direction that is vastly different from our history... and should be of concern.

I’ve wondered driving by the old armories what would happen if similar occurred here?

My understanding is still a lot of WWII surplus stored there?

Also wondered how the big trucks and other powered equipment is maintained… one yard for the air National Guard seems almost abandoned but has dozens of trucks for years out in the weather.

Big difference in Israel is that almost everyone does service in the IDF. Thus, they have training in those weapons, too.

Not suggesting we have requirements for such training here, but for GI weapons maybe it would make sense. Such as: if you are honorably discharged, you are 'leased' a sidearm and long gun with which you are qualified. "Lease" so you cannot sell, or otherwise dispose of the weapons. Should also allow those bearers to get range time on base for X rounds per year.

Frankly, I'm a big fan of mandatory service. Certainly pros and cons, but I think pros outweigh cons. I, in no way, however, would tie the right to keep and bear on such service.

There was a time when the NRA was almost a civilian training arm and surplus military fire arms readily available through such sponsored training… my uncle said they had rifle club at his high school back in the 40’s and gun smithing was taught.

A lot of Dads friends left the service with their sidearms post WWII… no idea if legal or not back then???
