Here’s one that irks me. Someone is being interviewed on say TV or the radio. A question is asked and the interviewee responds “Great question!” ”Duh” the interviewer should respond.

"Great question!" = Stalling for time to think of an answer.

When it comes to pet peeves regarding speech patterns, I guess I can't be the only husband whose wife will spend painful long minutes describing useless background content to a story, and then skip through the important bit very quickly, just as you got bored enough to stop following the story?
