The widespread use of the a comparison by using the words "10 times less than XXXX." 10 times less is a contradiction in terms. Are they not smart enough to just say "One tenth as much as XXXX"?

Related, I'm not sure why American media needs to give us the weight of every large object in units of "African Elephants" or "747's".

I can guess how heavy an African Elephant or Boeing 747 might be, but I really don't know for sure. What I do know is pounds, tons, and kilograms. Just give me a friggin' number in pounds or tons, if you feel some need to tell me how heavy something is.

In my world-travels, I seem to only come across this phenomenon here in USA, I've never experienced it anywhere else.

I often watch the 11PM news and then a local station runs a couple episodes of Two and a Half Men.
The opening scene is OK but once you're interested they stack like a dozen commercials back to back. Unless it's an episode with Kandi I roll over and go to sleep.
The most annoying commercial is the one for the call line Quest Chat. Who the F falls for that crap? Really?
Attractive women are at home waiting for losers living in their parents basements to make their day with a call?

Just a friendly word of advice... don't get out of bed without turning on the light. There's nothing fun about feeling dog squishing between your toes at 3 in the morning.

Not here. When a pet reaches that stage, it's time for that "last trip" to the vet. You're not doing it or yourself any favors by hanging on.

Those ads are what's referred to in the business as "PI (per inquiry) spots". Basically the station doesn't get paid for running them, they just get a commission if there's a sale. You generally only see them at times when there are no paid ads scheduled.
We don't get any broadcast tv here, and I don't think I've ever seen those type of ads on any of the stream channels.
