Think about sapping HP with AC on a 25hp tractor… I think you’d be pushing it

I can definitely tell when the AC compressor is running on my CK2620, it does make a difference on steep grades.
But it sure is nice to have, and to have the mechanical injection and no dpf.

In the past, I'd have said 35hp will run a 6' cutter where 25hp is pretty much limited to 5' and pretty much stopped there.

With DPF now a consideration, you're still free to run a 25hp engine without having to worry about DPF. If you lug an engine with DPF instead of running it at say 2,000+ RPM, it is more likely to need more frequent regens. The worry with regen is that it won't go right, and the tractor may end up in limp mode which apparently only a dealer can reset.

There is also the matter of heat in regen. Probably don't want to have regen happening in a barn stacked with dry hay.

If you actually need 35hp for what you plan to do that's one thing, but if you don't, then you have the extra hassle of the DPF system. So my advice is to think very carefully about what you plan to do and how much power you really need.

There are still some DPF tractors, where the DPF isn’t an issue. They are mechanical injection.

I agree that the OP should look at whether the tractors he is considering have ECM with a bunch of sensors that can go haywire or mechanical injection.

Yup, at least then you have options… the guy with the MF with the chronic DPF issue, doesn’t have options that the direct injection guys do… so he has no tractor

What kinds of work are you planning on doing and what kind of terrain (flat, hilly) are you dealing with?

Basically flat. Some weaving around trees to bush hog. Otherwise, just planting deer plots, etc.

Nobody comes close to what TYM offers, when it comes to cab tractors. You can get a lot of cab tractor for under $30K. I just got this 48hp, 2,700lbs loader lift for $29,500.

Which brings up another question of whether to pay what some places are asking for 25 and 35hp cabs, when you were able to buy this 48hp model for $29,500.
