Been there. I grew up not far from this park, and spent many weekends hiking around this park. Love the creek walk along the redwood forest. Thanks for bringing back fond childhood memories.

Wow... it's rare I connect with anyone with ties to Oakland on TBN.

We don't have many tractors here but mine do a good job reducing the fire fuel load and maintaining fire trails.

More than a few have relocated to Florida but AZ, TX and ID are now very popular...

I always think of this Far Side cartoon when talking about big trees.



Our county has a big tree program. Of about 50 species/sub-species nominated on the list, 22 of them are on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Pretty campus to walk around. I've been doing it for about 60 years.

If you ever get a chance, check out the giant Sequoias in California. They're the largest tree species in the world.

Many years ago I got sent to L.A. for work. I got there a day early on a Sunday, and the rental car company screwed up my order, so they gave me a convertible for the week.

I took the opportunity to drive over to the Sequoias and spent the day driving around the giant trees with the top down. It was a most humbling day.

Big Basin was the local goto but have not been since the devastating fire a few years back… my friend lost two tractors and his home on Last Chance Road… yes, that is the name.

Yeah it was. I'd reserved a mid-sized car. My flight was late getting in. I had been ill on the plane, but managed to hold it in until we landed. I went to rental car desk. They said they screwed up, and don't have any more mid-sized cars available. Would I take a Pontiac Sunfire convertible at no extra charge? I immediately felt a lot less ill.

Related story... at the 1st day of training class the very attractive female instructor asked if the class was ready for lunch? Then she asked everyone what kind of rental car they had. When she got to me, I said a white convertible. OK, I'm going with you. Man, you never saw such a bunch of disappointed puppy dogs in your life.

My training partner who was our factory rep was with me, and we are both very married, but it was still pretty funny. So there we go, driving around CA at lunch every day with a crazy brunette with big curly hair flowing in the wind in the back seat of a convertible. Not a bad week at all.
