I know a few single moms with young boys that were at their wits end and sports turned it around on multiple fronts…

Mostly youth soccer where the child is part of something bigger but still room to excel and contribute as an individual.

First the running til you drop and not wanting to let the team or coach down.

One 9 year old had quite a mouth and coach nip that in the bud and it took… no one had really called him on it and the coach said you can be a star player but we are a team and there is no room on the team for anyone disrespectful…

My daughter had horrific college coaches. They were more worried about social justice and turning their players into social justice warriors than coaching the sport, winning, or instilling the values that sports can instill in young people. Her coach would lose on average about 4 players per year, including “full ride” players because they couldn’t take the social justice nonsense. Thats a lot, considering a women’s college field hockey team carries only 25 players.

My son had a different experience, where he was recruited by a small D-1 college and all there was was his team, a not a lot else. When Covid hit, He got tired of it and transferred to a BIG school.

Don’t have too much college level except for dad and my 2 nieces…

One had the worst timing due to Covid… she had multiple scholarship offers and all was going well and then Covid hit and everything shut down and then whole dorm came down with Covid but they didn’t know sniffles was actually Covid… only one got full blown… none of the others had a clue…

The youngest is at UC Davis and it is rigorous and 6 months in she is thriving.

Most of my youth sports are outside of school proper with summer leagues and such… mostly about good sportsmanship and teamwork and for the parents kids burning up energy!!!

There was a guy about 10 years older than me who played defensive back at our high school and went on to play college football. His reputation was that you didn't want to be the guy he hit. He returned as high school football coach and later became the high school principal. Then he went into private business.

He told me he had 7 or 8 back surgeries. One of the last ones was bad. They put him in a medically induced coma. Had to go into the nursing home for rehab. He's passed away now, but it seemed to me that although sports was his ticket to a career, he paid a price and it wasn't easy.

Price reductions won’t happen. Rates will be cut, housing is already seeing a rebound. Welcome to the new normal
After hitting about 8, the 30 year is down to 6.61%.

The new normal is the punch bowl is always spiked.

Dad switched from Football to Boxing…

His reasoning if you get hit you can hit back…

Being the US Heavyweight Title holder it was left to mom to mete out discipline as dads hands were deadly weapons…

Athletics is not something to be looked down on. Every trait, characteristic, and talent a person has can either help them or hurt them. Our human nature is like a wild horse, it needs training to become useful rather than dangerous. We need to harness and train the talents we have, and realize that others may have different talents that suit them to roles we may not fit.
This puts things in a good context.

Why would the Fed cut rates in 2024? Hmmm, what would be going on in 2024? I can't quite put a finger on it.
Bingo. Of course they will cut rates in 2024.

But should rates really matter? You can always refi if rates go down enough but the sale prices is what will NOT change. If you pay too much you are stuck with it. Don't buy something over priced just because.

People need places to live. When we moved to our current location in 2005, we bought at the high point of the market. Then the market crashed in 2008 and the property value was less than we paid for it. Since we didn’t move, the value is now about 30% above the purchase price. Price fluctuations only matter if you are buying/selling over a short term.
