Well I'm going to add something here idiotic that I did that I got really lucky on.
This is the tongue of a 7x16 10k enclosed high roof trailer taking the very last one way load in a 1200mile interstate move. It was being towed by a 5 ton medium duty truck which was certainly up to the task.
I knew the trailer was overloaded so I drove at 60mph the entire way and stopped every couple hours to check tires/hubs/etc.
So after taking the entire 100 mile Salt Lake City metro area on the I-15 (one of the worst maintained stretches of interstate in the country IMO), trailer feels a little bouncy for lack of a better term and I stop and find this.
Tongue box beams were attached only at the bottom on each side. Last pic is of roadside repair.
One of the stupidest things I've ever done. But fortune favors the fool as they say. I should have purchased a lottery ticket that day.
