I explained what steel tariffs did to my brother in law’s industry and the resulting inflation. Tax incentives don’t have those consequences.
I’m not too worried about a small lawn mower manufacturer like your brother.
I’m more concerned with national security like Navy vessel hull steel, high tech electronics, military equipment, the food we eat, etc.

I jsut don’t want everything from China.
Sorry you do and we dont agree.

You missed the point. Steel tariffs create inflated prices in every industry that uses steel, from small to large.

Some people are so taken in with their own little world, and have no idea of scale…..

I was, and still am a firm believer in the tariffs

I didn’t miss any point. I’m saying I’m not worried too much about a small lawn mower manufacturer compared to losing everything. Which is the path we are on without any tariffs.

I pointed to larger industrial impacts and inflation throughout the economy. I am looking at a national, scale, so I do agree with your statement about looking at scale. When you put a 25% tariff on steel, the inflationary impacts affect the entire economy. Everything uses steel. A tax credit wouldn’t have that effect.

As long as we can make windmills and solar panels, we should be good, right?
🤣

I think we’re just going to have to agree to disagree

Everything is made of steel. The small company example shows the huge inflationary impacts of the tariffs because it affects the auto industry, construction, heavy equipment, ect…
