Show Me… sorry couldn’t resist.

On the way home there was a radio discussion that basically said of the thousands of counties nationwide only about a dozen control election outcome…
True for all elections. And in those counties a small number of precincts control those county results. O’B*i*d*e*n is trying to shore up the D stranglehold in blue areas and dilute strength of red areas with his border policy.

Just take a look at the US electoral map for each national election…it’s pretty shocking. The major population areas/cities/counties control the outcome in most states.

Mike
Yep. More people = more votes. In HS civics class we studied the different requirements for voting that the Founding Fathers considered as they wrote the Constitution. They considered age, education, property ownership and so on. What they came up is simply more people = more votes. And cities then and now have more of what they considered to be people.

Maybe, maybe not. That's just speculation.
Lots of government money and services in rural areas. I have lived in rural areas over 50 years. Especially farm and ranch payments from USDA programs. And a lot of rural residents on subsidized health insurance programs. I’m not saying this is good or bad, but let’s be honest.

Honestly, you’ll have to admit that urban counties and “sanctuary cities” contain many more ‘undocumented (illegal) aliens’ which pressure social services, health services, law enforcement, etc, etc. which is mostly not a factor in rural areas.

There are different types of government assistance in rural vs urban areas for sure. The amounts of assistance of one vs the other is another story. Working for USDA I know that the rural programs amount to hundreds of thousands per family sometimes. I doubt that the snap and other assistance to urban families are a fraction of that. But of course there are more people in urban areas receiving assistance. The statistics on a per capita basis does amount to a lot more in rural vs urban counties.

You are correct, but also beating your head against a wall.….

This! But at least in Missouri STL and KC don’t determine outcomes. Yet.

Talk about beating your head against a wall —- I go into Wally World yesterday to get cat food.

Can’t find it in the massive store crammed with everything.

Ask employee #1 — nice lady but “no Ingles”.

Employee #2 —- older gentleman —- “no ingles”.

Employee #3 —- helpful. Gives me her pen and a box lid and mimes writing it down. I write “gato” and mime eating.

She takes me to the cat food.

Great.

Now I can’t even begin to describe the process of checking out!
