Thanks. The dealership is doing that next week for the first round as part of the deal.

What type of oil do you run? What mileage interval?
I run Rotella. It’s what the dealer‘s “diesel tech” recommends and I also use a lot of Rotella in my tractors.
I change my RAM’s oil more frequently because I do severe heavy towing.

More important, change your transmission fluid. My guess is it hasn’t been done.

Curious how reliable pre aisin auto transmissions mated with the sought after 5.9 pre def Cummins? Is that truck in your wheel house? I'm definitely not a Mopar/ ram guy just wondering rarely saw those 3/4 and one tons plowing, towing or much of anything else regarding commercial fleet use.
The only reason I am avoiding older Dodge trucks is the auto transmissions.
I cannot afford a newer Cummins/Aisin or Chrysler transmissions and very few RAM pickups are built with Aisins, especially single rear wheel like I want.

That is why I prefer the Dmax/Allison trucks, but then there’s the rust they suffer.

I really doubt I will ever by another Ford diesel, except maybe a early generation 6.7L/Torqslip.
What i am finding is most of the 2012 and up Fords are still out of my price range. But I would buy the right one if it comes along. I am not brand loyal.

For a pre-2005 Dodge truck with Cummins, standard transmissions are the way to go. The autos were fine on gas engines, but the torque of the Cummins destroyed them. In 2005, the automatic transmissions were a new design that seems to be holding up.

You get the wrong employee driving a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission plowing for you I almost guarantee you will replace that clutch in short order.

Plowing with a manual transmission is like mowing grass with a push type reel mower.
It’s out of the question.

Well after you smoke me the ram auto transmission plowing you can buy an adapter plate and related components to retrofit an allison 1000 on the Cummins lol. Quick search on googler brought up a few kits.

I went to test drive a new Dodge yesterday and came home with this. 36,000 miles, one owner that only used it to pull a camper. They got tired of the camper thing and he traded it on a 1500. I really didn't want white but that's how buying used goes. I did test drive a 24 but in the end I couldn't see 35 grand more for a new truck. It just boggles my mind that people can afford to spend 100K on a pickup truck.

That's a real nice truck, and if you saved that much buying something lightly used, that's a lot of fuel to keep her moving.

Cripes these regular cab trucks are rare and pulling a premium I predict non existence on the market if winter happens . Decent v plow, regular cab, long box, tow package, Duramax, Allison. 8k over your budget with plow, uses def, only a 3/4 ton with sle option package.
