You Know You Are Old When

I didn't really start listening to country until roughly the early-ish 90s. Was always more of a rock guy, but it got so I didn't really "get" modern rock music anymore. Would have been in my early 40s at the time. Didn't really care much for Garth either but many of that generation of country singers had some rock influences so the transition wasn't a big deal.
For the most part the old school country doesn't do much for me, though there are some individual songs or artists I like.

I liked Shania Twain in her early years. She had a nice belly button.

Were yours painful? Worst pain I think I ever had like a band around my chest.

On my god yes, that was the worst pain I've ever had. Way worse than my kidney stone. In the ER, they wouldn't give me any pain meds until the knew what the problem was. Only took them four hours to do that.
What a way to spend Easter Sunday, getting my gall bladder removed.

Some have small shopping bags of meds when they come in and a few, very few take no meds.

Not a good cross sample because these are people seeking medical treatment.

Know you are old when you have more Doctors office numbers in your phone than friends. And yes I take baby aspirin (among many other pills) daily. Hard to believe 10 years ago I took no pills and only had 1 doctor.

I've been on synthroid since I was 39. Since nearly having a stroke 3 years ago I also take cholesterol meds and baby aspirin. This year my BP started going wacko so I'm now on meds for that...
It kind of peeved me as that's always been good.

How about when you have more scars from surgeries than from self inflicted wounds? I got six new ones just last year, two from back surgery and four from gall bladder surgery.

Know you are old when you have more Doctors office numbers in your phone than friends. And yes I take baby aspirin (among many other pills) daily. Hard to believe 10 years ago I took no pills and only had 1 doctor.

I swear the first doctor gets kickbacks from all the other doctors he refers us to.
My family doctor a couple years ago sent me to emergency because he thought I may have a blood clot in my right leg.
After 12 hours sitting there I finally got in and had an ultrasound. Found nothing.
However the emergency doctor thought my blood pressure was high.
Yeah, after spending 12 hours with the cast and crew of the Road Warrior in the waiting area and another 3 being tested and diagnosed, having missed brekky and all other meals, nothing to drink until about 3AM, blood pressure was elevated.
Now I have a cariologist. Sent me for more tests, Cat Scan and ultrasound. Heart and lungs are fine as are liver, kidneys and arteries have zero blockage. Much to what seemed his disappointment, my colesterol was good.
Still have to see him every 3 months. Don't want to tell him to FO just in case I need him in the future.
I feel such a fraud in his office when I see others who are really sick.
That lead to the Colonoscopy. "You've reached that age." Nothing there, but pretty sure I caught Covid in the hospital. Now I have a respiratory specialist. The family Dr. didn't like the sound of my lungs.
Now twice a year I go for tests that don't find anything. Again I don't want to tell him to FO...
Complained my knee hurt, mild swelling not sure what I did to it. I was asked if I wanted to get on the list for a replacement as there is an over one year waiting list. It's fine now, no intervention needed.
Other than letting me know nothing is wrong except creeping age I now have 5 doctors that aren't really doing anything for me.
But at least I have people calling me with places to go and things to do.

I started collecting magnetic business cards 10/12 years ago, of different docs/NP’s I’ve seen. So far 12 of the cardiology business cards on my fridge.

Then 4-5 other specialty’s with multiple docs….

I think I'm old since I've outlived lots of doctors. We go to a new one Thursday!
