Good morning! Low of 37°.... wow! High today should hit 48°. Sunny, but the wind again... 25-35 mph with gusts to 60 mph.

Drew, you will scare the snow away now that you're totally prepared! The worst thing I caught with the snowblower was a 4" log sticking out.... BANG❗️ the shear pins didn't even break, but it did a number on the gearbox.
Replaced the gearbox and the second time using it, got a big 2 1/2" rock that surfaced from the drive base. Took out the gearbox again..... sold the blower to the neighbor for $50.

RNG, your upbringing as far as getting "informed" about finances is very similar to mine.... learn as you go..... I can see how it can go either way. With today's technology, I think there are more ways for people to be exposed to financial information. Whether a good choice is made --- that's another story......

Dennis, your area sure is cold! Add a little moisture = bone chilling..... Stay warm!

Phil, some more beautiful pieces! Nice grain. Maybe someday I'll get a lathe. Then I'll never have any time.....

Scott, any more work on the seats? We did some preliminary sketches for the corner cabinet, subject to change of course. The question remains to add a couple drawers or not.....

Gonna try to get the shelves stained today. Wishful thinking.....

Everyone have a great day!

Good Afternoon Guys,
I did cut out a lot of heart loss by writing down the correct answer so I don't make the same mistake twice.
Don, I have started recently doing the same thing, if I can get 2 full lessons in then I consider it a win for the day !
I’m thinking about a classic stone fireplace, I could add a fresh air vent into it though.
PopG, a couple of years ago I installed a DVL EmberGlow propane insert in our fire place. Looks nice and throws a good amount of heat ! We did have a woodstove in the basement in the Ct home but I decided that two woodstoves in Vermont was enough! One in the house and one the woodshop in the barn ! The gas fireplace here is vented through the chimney !
Scott, any more work on the seats? We did some preliminary sketches for the corner cabinet, subject to change of course. The question remains to add a couple drawers or not.....
Hi Ted, no more work done, and it may be awhile before anymore does get done. We are leaving for southern Florida next Wednesday for two weeks ! I brought the four front legs back to Ct for turning, but it has been much too cold to do anything in the Ct garage !

Quick answer session.
I finish them with shellac, tung oil or Tried and True finish. All are food safe.
If not used with food items I use poly or spar varnish.
These dishes were made with Cedar and Maple.
As far as mounting. I drill an 1 1/2 hole 1/8 deep and mount it on my Record Power SC2 chuck. Then I turn a 5 inch mortis into what will be the back side.

So I went out in the cold for gas and diesel. It was -1° with wind. I thought I prepared for it.
There is no way I would be able to dress for -1F temps. Especially with wind. Thankfully we don't get that cold here.

Good Morning in the afternoon!

Looks like we are out of the deep freeze. Expecting a high of 56F today. Over night lows in the 20's the rest of the week but high temps well above freezing during the days.

We had no pipes issues at either place or at rentals so I'm very happy.

Heading out to take some debris to the dump.

Everyone please have a safe, warm, comfortable, productive day and be well-fed!

Another three hours of plowing done and the dump/town run as well. That makes 9 hours on the last fuel up and I still have over 1/2 a tank (7 gallon tank) of fuel.
The heater blower worked flawlessly today. I find that IF I get too hot, I can open the windshield half way and that keeps me cool enough, but not cold. Next Tuesday it is supposed to get up around the freezing mark, so I will trouble shoot the whole electrical thing then.
I have a 100 watt incandescent bulb in my trouble light, that will keep my hands warm enough.
I was never taught how to budget, but I am slowly learning.
My company has a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), I contributed 5% and the company matched it. On good seasons I chucked in 8% but the company would only put in their 5%. After I quit for almost a year I pulled the RRSP from the company and put it all into stock. Bank of Montreal stock to be specific. At the time BMO was trading at $35.oo/share I sunk 80 grand into BMO stock and now BMO is trading at $130.oo/ share. I think I came out on top on that one. I can live on the dividends plus Old Age Security (OAS) and Canada Pension Plan (CPP). I am just not all that sure I want to retire. I like the extra 40+ grand a season I make when working. Last year was 47.4 Grand. That amounts to 47 thousand reasons why I should keep working. All of them dollars.

Good morning all. 33ºF for the start, clear sky. light breeze. Slept 9 hours last night. Did not refire the insert, high in the 50's today.Worked on Estate paperwork, hope to get the Fidelity stuff soon, then can leave off at lawyer. Have left other stuff hanging hoping to catch up on fish club stuff soon. Chapel Friend brought by beef stew, fresh corn bread hot out of the oven and nice chunk of Pineapple Upside-down cake. Will celebrate warmer weather with an outdoor bike ride.

Frits it was not the chart but the subject matter. When Covid was becoming a hot topic I was reporting Dallas, TX Covid statistics. Had a whole post removed for two lines, no charts. Initially no one knew why, but TBN started a policy of no Covid info on the site, was triggering too much "flamethrowing" on the site. I hope you understand. If you want more info please feel free to PM me.
Two_bit yes an good idea. Sorry no traction.
Dennis glad cars and driveway around cars cleared of snow.
Ron my story very close to yours. We talked over what was needed before spending, we had a goal of my early retirement which happened on schedule. I started helping with checkbook and paying bill when she went to Alaska, then shortly before passing. Wish she was still here.

Kilroy glad you have plenty of wood for winter. Glad you convinced the chickens to go into a warmer area.
Dennis my aux heat kicked in while temps below 20ºF. But insert was maintaining adequate heat while I was up.
Buppies Cowboys had Jimmy then he left after 1 Superbowl. I always suspected that Jerry Jones(owner) figured in his leaving, which is why I would to change owners :) Just not going to happen.

I remember a scout backpacking trip at below 0° F starting at Caledonia to Pine Grove on the AT. I helped drive them up, but did not hike that one as I did not have the gear for it. I have slept out down to 10° F.

if you look back at old posts from 2020 timeframe, you will see alligatoritis mentioned, or getting bit by the alligator if you got covid. We had to talk around it. Mostly used to give a daily totals, until the administration decided you could not mention it at all. TBN lost a lot of participants then.
Mostly, dads car was an early 2000 Saturn, that was my oldest sisters car until she passed away in 2011. Now dad only drove a few miles into town and back. The car was not road worthy.
29° and calling for 2” snow.
Yesterday I picked up Chinese for lunch, and grabbed a couple extra to have for tomorrow’s snow day. I told my son that my wife will try to claim them for a dinner meal so she wouldn’t have to cook. Sure enough, today she said don’t eat those, they will be tomorrow’s supper. 😂
I said, hold on now, I bought that for lunch, but I got a feeling if I eat it for lunch, there won’t be a supper. 😂
