Good morning!!!!

Good morning,
35° now, highs in the upper 40’s and partly cloudy today. Winds WNW 10-15 mph. Yesterday hit 60° not to shabby for February 👍. Unfortunately winter comes back Tuesday, calling for 6-10” of the white stuff.

Not much going on the last several days, played pick up sticks and burned another small brush pile before it got to squishy to be out in the yard. Took the Mrs for lunch twice, told her happy valentines and she reminded me that’s more than she usually gets. I think she was just kidding but I’m not really sure 😇.
No real plans for today just energy conservation.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

I am sitting here with the smell of burning metal and plastic stuck in my nostrils
haven't had that since I was a fireman
almost lost the greenhouse
propane heater ran fine outside for a little bit, then fine inside, I put it on lower setting
and left, after checking ceiling with hand and temp gun. All was fine
came back outside a few minutes later, was filling up an empty seedling tray with starter soil, makes a mess so better
to do it over the lawn. Was almost done, and what's that nasty electrical burning plastic smell?
oh no
I race back to the greenhouse and it was just fine.
But I hard a loud tapping sound I knew wasn't right
opening the plastic zipper I saw the heater was on fire, or at least all the
plastic on back of unit was black and smoking, probably seconds from igniting.
lovely
quick turned off the gas at the bottle and a few seconds later it died down.
And then I got out of there but not before getting a lung full of that crappy air in there.
major carcinogens, why you wear airpacs as a fireman. Well, I didn't linger to get the plants out.
I'll go back out in a bit.

worse, I had just put three trays of seeds out there since it had gotten warm.
what a disappointment. I guess from now on I run it outdoors in middle of driveway for half an hour
before it goes inside.

spent 20 minutes online with Amazon customer service and had to strongly suggest they contact the cpsc and their own
safety committee. They didn't want it back, that's worrisome.
now going to get a small cabinet style heater, with heater closer to ground anyway.
I was using a 30 pounder and heat was up higher than I wanted anyway so best to use something that sits on the ground.
having this thing catch on fire on top of a 30 pounder sure got my attention.

now that I'm actually peering at the picture too, looks like their factory label of some sort tried to ignite.
I bet the rest of the thing is fine. Just scrape all that junk off it, wire brush it and try it again. But not sitting that close to a propane
bottle this time
I have several iterations of these, they are very reliable and effective Vintage Perfection 525 Oil Kerosene Heater Stove | eBay

shouod be more than sufficient for your needs, and they are not made of Chinesium…

I posted this crocus photo about 5 days ago...it was a single bloom. Yesterday it had 3.
Nice photo of a flower-- thanks!

27F, going to a sunny 50F here in Formerly-Great California.

Good news is found no blown down trees following the recent storm and high winds. Have not checked the more remote parts of the property so that will have to wait for Spring.

btw we have quite a color variation among the "black bears" on our property. This one is on the darker side.

71 degrees in greenhouse with only electric heat, that's a happy thing
but still will bring in plants tonight
RS, hope new fridge fits perfectly
I also have one of these, it works quite well!

Well, I hope you get plenty of snow.

That is not something I have ever wished on anyone before.
Just a difference in climate.

At our residence in Nevada, snow that falls is typically gone within a few days. We recently received a foot of snow, and within a week almost all of it was gone.

In California, a good snowpack in the Sierra Mountains provides water for irrigation and recreation all summer long.

good morning all
late start, decided to have a cup of coffee and just read my book some more.
no sense rushing into the day.
I keep having to remind myself I'm retired and don't have to jump up and do something.
though I usually do, I've usually been an up and at 'em person.
kinda nice to sip on coffee and do nothing.
I bet some of you have the same issues.

checked on greenhouse, 42 inside, 41 out, electric heater on low is clearly useless, but just put the propane heater on and
will check in an hour what temp is in there. With high of 52 today, I hope to turn it off later. It's the coming week I need it, nights down to
23. I ordered another 30 gallon propane tank, this time from Amazon at 30 percent less. Since propane doesn't go bad, don't mind stocking up.
I expect to be using this heater in next larger greenhouse, it's oversized for this tiny thing, if I turned it up on high would likely melt the ceiling.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday. Sounds like tonight will be quite an event. I'll watch the recaps. I'm sure we'll get a kiss that will make all
the Swifties swoon.

54, foggy drizzle out, more rain coming...only going up one degree later.

Had a nice family gathering yesterday. Should do more often.

Buppies, sounds like a nice day trip yesterday.

Rich, nice job on the bike.

Just heard that $23 Billion will be wagered on the game today. Crazy.

Good evening.
