My dad's 1946 Scred Heart School grad picture.

The ONLY thing he talked about was how mean the nuns were whacking your knuckles, particuarly if you spoke your native tongue in school instead of English.

What always amazed me was my dads family was dirt poor, yet they always had nice clothes to dress in for family pictures or anything of "importance"..

Dad got our first TV in 1956, and my wife says that's about the time they did as well.
There was a local TV personality who reported news and hosted a few shows. I remembered his TV show with puppets before cartoons on Saturday morning and I called him in the 1980s...he was old then and we chatted a good while, he liked that I remembered. He said shows were live and not video taped so lots of what we remember is lost forever. I thought I knew the puppet names and I was close, but it was "Cuffy" and "Boo Boo". Another local station sock puppet was "Miss Gilley".
The syndicated one everyone remembers was Sheri Lewis and "Lambchop".

Mom was one of the first people treated for thyroid cancer at Walter Reed medical hospital using radioactive idodine. After me, they were done. My dad could never say that LMAO

I can remember when all calls went through the operator. No dial phones in our area back then.

We had a party line early on and I was amazed we had suddenly gotten rich enough to have such a luxurious and important device. People always listened in and my sister worked at the phone company so no conversation was safe and we often spoke in code.

That, and the ever used collect call to ourself so we could say what time we would arrive home from a trip.
