The person that was supposed to pick up the trampoline flaked out yesterday, next guy on the list says he'll come over this morning. We'll see.
Hope he makes it. Sounds like a deal if someone wants a trampoline.

Good morning! Low of 18°, high predicted to be 41°. Sunny, light winds. Snow is about half gone in the 'untouched' areas, anywhere a tire track, footprint, or where shoveled is dry. Can't complain.

Should be gone over the next few days.... temps hovering in the mid / upper 40's all week. The lows still in mid 20's, still pretty cold.....

Did a few small honey-do jobs yesterday. Glad they are done.... just those pesky little things that take longer to get the tools than to do the job......

Retrieved a few bags of pellets out of the shop. Then proceeded to mix them together. I had gotten oak hardwood pellets for the first batch, wanted to see if they were worth the extra $. They have far more ash, but do burn more consistently. Because of the ash, have to clean the stove more often.

So, bought an equal amount of softwood (Doug Fir) pellets to mix with the hardwood. Last night's burns were still consistent, but could definitely tell the difference in the amount of ash in the burn pot was less.
I'm surprised that the hardwood pellets were not better. Makes one wonder about quality control. Were they really oak? Were they even a hardwood?

Not sure of the agenda today.... take it as it comes.

Dennis, I bet you're glad to be home. Now you can get some R&R.....

Drew, glad the heater worked out keeping the temp up. The plants thank you! We had some nights were the greenhouse temps dropped to around 36°, no harm to the plants that were in there. I don't think it was that cold for too long though.....

Fritz, thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like a beautiful city!

Paul, glad you found some parts that were needed. Hope organizing the parts goes good.

RNG, another successful moving trip done! Hope there aren't too many more to do! I had a good visualization of you raising the shelf --- needing another arm and hand.... be careful!

I hope everyone has a great day and start to the week!

Wifey finally picked out a "style" for the cabinet. Now I can move forward on it. It won't be painted, but stained to show the wood grain.

Not exact, but the basic concept. Definitely easier than an angled corner cabinet. Probably make the doors up to the next shelf up. Makes more sense... two enclosed, two open.

...taking a break from the Milk House and got to thinking about my water heater install.

I have 12 foot high ceilings and floor space is limited. I could build a platform to elevate the water heater at least to six feet. This would free up floor space in the corner, which I could use as a closet.

Has anyone suspended their water heater? I am estimating 300 pounds, it is a 30 gallon.

Just make sure you have enough room up top to remove anode rod.
In Europe you see a lot of raised water heaters.
Also make sure you have a decent pan and place for water to flow for drain/flush.

When do we get pics of the Milkhouse work?

Yep. Good point on the rod.

Pics soon, the big room is basically done. Wife has furniture going in, and there are boxes of tile everywhere. The entrance way, all done too. Just need to rehang some metal panels. An electrical outlet is not to my liking (recessed too much). Lots of concrete rubbish that needs to go to the dump is also on the way.

The mini-split is doing a great job, set at 66 and it feels nice and cozy.

Almost there...almost...

I'm going to put a full propane bottle on the heater this afternoon to make sure it doesn't run out tonight.
