Farms disappearing at alarming rates

Sad indeed. Look at farmers in Europa, nobody's happy.

Nuc reactors needed, leave farmers alone for once, it's time to give it back less GMOs.

In my area true farms are rare and most will tell you can't afford to farm and the rules regs...sad indeed very sad.

I over heard a guy cussing a local farmer for selling his farm to a developer. He was whining that his property values were going to drop because his ”farm view” would be ruined.

Oh well!!! Suck it up, buttercup. I bet you didn’t give a flyin leap about him when he was working 70 hours per week and you were falling asleep at your 200K/yr desk job!

Probably loves to complain about food prices, too! 🤡

Its not just China. The AFA (affordable care act) allocated 80 billion for green energy. Windmills are yesterdays news, Today its solar panels. Power companies are leasing ag land for 30 years for a 1000 an acre. For most farmers this is a far higher profit margin then the are making farming.

Ironic you take the best soil and put it in power panels but it is the easiest to install in. The people that really feel it is all the industries ag supports. Seed suppliers, Fertilizer Co-ops, mills, trucking etc.

I can't blame the farmers for taking the royalties. They did it for natural gas and windmills but those usually only took an acre or two. Panels take the whole parcel and typically destroy the drain tile in the process to get the service wires in.
I guess it is their land they can do with it as they like, however, most farmers do not let their land get used for solar panels, it is there relatives who are doing this. There are some who are though, again their land.

We have 1.5 GW 10 mile to the north and they have given the farmers issues of the last decade. But I felt since it didn't impact me directly when they decided to install 400 mw 4 mile to the west of me I didn't get involved.

Unlike the 1.1 and 1.5 Mw turbines to the north they installed 2.2 mw to the west. They sight the things on how far they will throw a blade if it breaks(and it does happen). Well the manufactures recommendation for the 2.2 MW was 1650 feet. That would limit where they placed them so they used the 1200 feet that the smaller turbines spec to the structure and now people cant build on their property because it will be to close. The northern farms they put the turbine from the property line not the structure. And I didn't think I would see the things but since they are a 100' taller than the 1.5mw ones sure can. Red lights drive the residents batty that live in the fields.

Now they are planning a 3000 acres solar farm to the east.

Aren’t you lucky!

Oh stop complaining. China means us no harm. They just tariff the bejeebers out of our imports and buy up land next to top secret military installations.
Whats the problem with that? 🤷‍♂️

What are you going to complain about next? Some silly story about a spy weather balloon or something crazy like that? :ROFLMAO:
I'm not complaining at all. In fact I admire their awesome solution to crime. No need for prisons, just turn criminals into night soil. In my visit(s) there they have addressed the race, education, dei, woke, and military service issues, suitable to my liking.
I admired their almost religious respect for older visitors who come to offer them education. (And it's not courses in Ancient French Literature).

Lot of farms get sold because they are more valuable to put houses on than to actually farm, plus there's a heck of a lot of hard work and expense maintaining a farm.
