Yeah, one of the interesting suggested systems is this:
Conductive charging, on the other hand, works both for heavy-duty vehicles and private cars as long as there is a conduction system such as a rail. The vehicles are charged through a stick that touches the rail.

Yep, that's how my model rail road train worked !

If you haven't heard his presentation @ the ARC conference last year, that is worth going back to. I'm about half way through the more recent one below, (I will definitely finish it) so can't comment yet on extent of overlap (vs. ARC material).
