That can be done with a lot less heat content, not to mention creosote.

This is the mildest winter I can remember here in the NW corner of NY state. It looks like I’ll use less than 5 face cords of firewood to heat our well insulated 2000 sq ft L-shaped ranch house.

I had been averaging around (6) face cords a year and made my woodshed big enough to hold (24). I only had it half full in the fall. Each row holds 1-1/2 face cords, stacked floor to roof. I used (3) rows there plus a half cord on the house porch (wood stove inside, just to the right).

I hauled up a light load tonight, to finish off that 3rd row, and to make room for my 2-row corn planter in there next winter. I’ll be filling up the other half with firewood by next fall. I’m really liking that lamp out in the woodshed.
