Good Morning,
Vt, 30 to start going to 49, with some very strong wind last night ! Up at 5 am, grands rise early ! 😳😀

Will walk the property later to see if any trees came down with all that wind ! If the wind will slow down later I may split some more wood on the back side of the barn !

RS, you definitely have a green thumb, along with some of the other guys on the forum !

My son and DIL are going out to dinner this evening, so Opa and Nana will try and entertain the kiddos ! 😉 The sky is just starting to lighten up a little, looks kind of overcast now !

Maybe a little time in the shop, I need to cut out the pattern for the rear legs of the rockers ! Two weeks ago when we left Vt I brought the seats back to Ct with the intention of sculpting the seats, of course they are still sitting in the same place down there not being touched by me ! 😉

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

BEF, looks like Buchanan. What was the name of the restaurant?
greenwood, north of troutville.

Love seeing your hiking pics.

Was buchanon. It was really windy. I’ll have to stop again on a nice day. I was wondering if you were hiking. Too windy for me to be in the woods.

Last year we planted daffodils at the corners of septic area, and at this property corner. All grew and all but 1 had a flower. Zoomed picture, looks like 4 ft to the woods is over 100 yds.
We also found a marked corner post on the south of our lot that marks the divide in a couple lots below us.
Need to take a tractor down soon to clean up some.

They started clearing land for buc-ees south of Harrisonburg.

good morning all
should be a nice day until rain comes in, and will rain through tonight.
I have a few errands to run this morning

RS, good info on the amaryllis. I have five in the basement, thinking maybe I should up pot like you have.
I rarely get them to come back.

I hope to have a quiet day, guessing will be lots of traffic out due to holiday.
plantar fasciitis flared up badly yesterday, hard to walk much on right foot. I have orthotics and have been to multiple
docs. Been there for four years now, just won't go away. I've been trying to walk more and foot is not happy.

site is a little wonky in morning. I get "can't find that" or "database error";
I see BEF's post just duplicated like someone else yesterday.

Good morning, the low is 23 and going to a high of 39°F. Wind N 5 mph. Mix of sun and cloud.

The only thing I am doing today is putting a case of water in the Dodge. I will hide it under one of the two winter coats that live in there. I don't drink coffee or tea, so straight water is 'it' for hydration.

I haven't done so yet, but I will be setting up the every 6 month change over of the snow tires to summers, along with a general look over of the running gear and a oil change with filter. Have to get the A/C fixed, too. Probably just needs a recharge, I hope. Probably set that up for the end of April.

Nothing else planned for today. Currently listening to In A Godda Diveda, on SiriusXM.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!!!! 46F and raining @ 4:00AM. Rain ending this morning. Remaining cloudy. High 59F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Started raining yesterday around 9AM, and so far there's been about a half inch of gentle accumulation with very little wind. My kind of storm.

Managed to swap out the damaged patches of laminate flooring yesterday; thank goodness I had left over packages left from fourteen years ago when I installed it. What a relief to find that there was no fading or color change between the old boards and new, and the repairs are invisible. Now just need to pick up some new baseboard to finish things off.

More packing and cleaning today.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

37 outside this AM, heading to upper 60's. Should be a nice day.

Need to get really busy. Way behind on the farm/home projects. Other life events keep happening and the day jobs have been consuming more and more life time. Need to find that work/life balance. Again.

I see the horse are waiting so after I gulp the coffee down, the day starts. LOL.

Hope all have a great weekend, be safe.

Morning all, 39 going to 59 and sunny.
Did our hiking in Manhattan yesterday, beautiful day for it.
Upper West side to drop off paperwork, to Zabars so the wife and son could get cookies. Down to midtown for lunch and then down to the Strand book store and Union Square.
Followed by dinner and train home.
Even taking the subways we put in over 12,000 steps and had a lot of fun.
It was good to see the city alive and everyone out and walking about.
Was much cleaner and the subway was back to normal.

The governor of that state went to a police funeral she was not invited to, and got thrown out, so all hope is not lost.

Today off to get sons passport, walk dog and possibly get some yard work done if wind calms a bit.

Scott - we take the train in. Still not cheap at $96 for the three of us, and NJ transit wants to raise fares after squandering all the money they get. Including a $400 million office move.

Paul - love that northport, first metal working machine I used back in my 20's to trim metal shims for a project had one, it was new when we started using it. Had to make metal weights for the big camera, worked great on the heavy metal, real expensive stuff.

Not much time to read, off to town.
Be well,

The fire damage varied...this is about an average area...
Did a double take- that tree on the right looked like a totem pole at first!

Good morning all, a soggy 32F. Wish it would turn to snow instead.

Insurance adjuster should be here in a few hours to look at tree through the roof. It is still sticking through into the Great Room. A closer exam shows some possible structural damage to interior exposed posts and beams. Likely need a structural opinion but I will start with the insurance guy.

I did not fire my contractor, although I should have. He gave slippery, shifting stories about his "contractor license" with the actual license supposedly held by another person he is 60/40 partners with but who I have never met. No license number posted on truck. And he pulled the "my english is not so good" when I asked pointed questions. Doing that is common here with spanish speakers. It is a tactic to dodge hard questions.

I will not use him for insurance work here at our ski cabin. But I am going to let him finish the work already underway at our ranch property. He claims to have insurance and said he will provide a paper copy of it to me Tuesday. I withheld a small amount of $$ from a payment subject to receiving the paper copy. He was not happy; I responded I was also quite unhappy with the license "fable" but if he has insurance he can continue. Given the idea of instead being possibly being fired on the spot-- he agreed my idea was a good plan. :D

Hope everyone has a great day. Spring is coming!

Coming home we stopped to walk the suspension bridge over the James River. It was bouncing and swaying so much from the strong winds I only went half way then came back. The video doesn’t do it justice.
I don't blame you for turning around on that bridge. Not sure I would cross it on a calm day. Nice picture though!
