Is it time to consider electric?

I understand the economics, though I wish the comfort, and utility for the employees could have been weighted in.
Yep. I'm sure they were weighed in, but bean counters rule. Doesn't matter anymore, as production was outsourced 7 years ago.

It wasn't that long ago that China was opening a new coal fired power plant every few days. I care about pollution and saving resources but billions of the earth's population don't seem to care. Why bankrupt ourselves when all of our do-gooding is a spit in the ocean compared to the majority of the world? Common sense is not the fuel that propels our (US/CA) green initiatives.

That was true. However, they are currently have the largest solar installations globally, with more than the US, and Europe combined.

They are also the #1 producer (and buyers) of electric vehicles.

Times change.

All the best,

Peter

I'm getting a electric mower because it has waaaaay fewer moving parts, quiet as heck, no belts and never need to add fuel stabilizer. Can even get aftermarket battery's for it. Call me stupid if you like. Not religious or political view. I will do a review of it after it goes into service.

Nobody is or will call you stupid for purchasing a electric tool or vehicle if that tool or vehicle works for you all the power to you... but don't call me stupid if I refuse to purchase a EV when I have a 600km (372 miles) one way trip to go to work espicially when its winter 5 month out of the year.

how easy is to change the batterie? and what is the advertise cutting time? I hope these lights can be turned off ...

I don't think the lights draw that much power relative to the mowing blades and propulsion system that has to be powerful enough to propel the mower and the weight of the operator.

If they could figure out a reliable way for lawn mowers to self guide themselves without an operator to cut grass without underground wires to guide them, then the small robotic mowers would be appealing. I'd like to have a quiet mower that automatically cuts the grass for me, but the current offerings seem too high priced, and I'm not impressed with the ones that rely on underground wires to keep themselves contained in the yard.

Its the irony, and they do cost you power, sure the blade and propulsion do a lot more but without them you just have a flash light and not a mower. Just like a tesla, electric vehicle yet there is a electric heater (air, seat, windshield, steering) the dash board is just lit up with screen and lights cameras all over that stay on all the time whether you want or not, all these are costing you miles whether you want it or not.

I agree that times change. What hasn't changed is that China is a secretive country and their stats for everything are reported by the PRC and approved by its dictator before dissemination.

In the case of EV cars, using the AC or heat or sitting in a traffic jam can potentially leave someone stranded, especially if someone starts a trip and the remaining battery left indicators on that vehicle are way off relative to actual driving conditions.

In every single discussion over EV’s, E-tractors, E-chainsaws or E-anything, the same pattern occurs.

I don’t think there is ONE member here on TBN that dislikes electric powered vehicles or equipment to be offered. Choices are great.

What they DO dislike is electric equipment being forced on them by an oppressive “no choice” administration and taking away their ICE powered equipment choices being discontinued and all the problems that come with discontinued parts, service, etc.

So when someone cries “why all the electric hate”, victim crybaby BS, there’s no “hate” of electric. There IS hate of being forced into buying just ONE choice (the administrations choice -electric) or nothing at all.

GET IT????????
The same can be said for the whole climate change debacle. Other people's ideology being forced on everybody. It is at the point where it is threatening the livelihood of a lot of us.

Mandates are the root cause of this whole discussion. Consumers have proven more than eager to shell out an extra 20k for mandated emissions equipment as long as they get some shiny new paint, the latest infotainment system and bluetooth gadgetry. If you keep buying them, they will keep requiring them.

Power trac is one of the very few companies that has taken a stance against the "earth saving" emissions standards that have ruined diesel engines. They can't change the regulations, but they can refuse to financially contribute to them. They are not going to charge their customers more for reduced performance, reliability, and longevity. They have put their money where their mouth is because this will cost them sales.

Electric earthmoving equipment has been in use long before global warming was even a twinkle in Al Gore's eye. Power trac has been manufacturing a large, battery powered loader for underground coal mining for over twenty years. A scaled down version of this using common automotive batteries might be a viable alternative to the option lost thru widespread acceptance of diesel mandates.
