77F and mostly cloudy @ 11:30, calling for a high of 79F for the day ... which apparently we've already hit. Showers and thunderstorms lurking in the area but no rain here yet.
LWS reports the high here yesterday was 90.7F ...
Decent progress made yesterday.
Woman worked on weeding the garden, She's getting close to being done.
Set out the cabbage, broccoli, and peppers to continue hardening off. Peppers got about an hour of direct sunlight and appeared none the worse for it. Many of those are due to be repotted at this point. All of them will need watered today.
Got check up/meds appointment made/confirmed for the 9th.
Got the entire western side of the new forsythia bed sprayed with glyphosate, also sprayed some areas up around the shop, including what's left of the crusher run pile.
2 gallons total applied, got another gallon filtered and loaded into a sprayer so it's ready to go..
Then got the 6 remesh panels laid out on sawhorses and got one side of those sprayed with phosphoric acid. The change was immediate and quite noticeable:
After that I headed around back and hooked up the Water Buffalo and refilled it, then started watering and fertilizing the 6 blueberry and 6 rhubarb plants in the garden.
Then I started on the rest of the stuff around back: 2 (newer) redbud trees, the two ornamentals (not sure what they are) and the rings of hosta around each.
Once that was done I headed up to the front next to the road and did the largest Rose of Sharon, and two small oak trees.
Was about to do a larger oak tree that is about to break bud, got the watering can loaded up with fertilizer, and found that the WB was empty so headed back down to the house where the Woman was weeding the garden and about to knock off.
Dropped the WB and hooked up the dump cart which was full of weeds and hauled those up to the compost pile and dumped them.
Came back down and gathered up my phone and the Altec Rockbox and headed back up front and got the fire started to grill some burgers.
Used some of those shagbark hickory chips which I had started soaked an hour or so before. Burgers + Bush's Baked Beans (Homestyle) were delicious. I ended up eating 2, was stuffed.
Local buzzard lean up crew on the job the other day and doing their duty:
Agenda for today:
Dole out meds for coming week.
Get remesh panels moved into the barn before they get wet.
Mow down here around the house.
Started out mowing this year with the deck set at 2.5" just to keep the grass from getting out of control. Have been gradually raising it up, first to 2.75" then to 3".
This mowing I'll kick it up to 3.25" since the temps are warming up.
Probably head up to the shop later to work on that lift cylinder once the rain materializes.
Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ...
