Don and other Texans, prepare for a lot of rain, that storm is headed your way Monday and Tuesday.

I sure hope so. It is very dry and the yard and pool both need water.

79˚F heading too the mid 90's, SE winds.

I need a Doorbell ring-like camera, driveway camera and backyard camera. I'll be heading to Best Buy to see what they have. I have outlets in the eves of the house for the driveway and backyard but the front door will have to be battery.

Time to mow the yard.

Don, I was thinking of the same cameras because of my extended trip.
hope your rain is reasonable and not destructive.
I sure do hope to get a dip in your pool in a couple months.

I did clean out the entire rv gen enclosure, it was never clogged.
And I have the same warning sign about running with enclosure on, since that forces air through the
cooling fins. For ten minutes should not make a difference.
no smell in ten minutes, off it goes.
Gen has always worked. But it sits too much with ethanol gas in carb.
that is not a recipe for happiness

Already 84 going to 98, with a side of humidity...pushing the much-hyped heat index to 110.

Yesterday was hot, but not too bad, then an afternoon t-storm provided the fireworks and much needed rain.

Happy Anniversary, NH. Good story.

Thomas, you have a regular zoo up there.

at 1003 gen turned on and ran flawlessly. Wires got to 85 degrees, no issue there.
still got some of the same stink. But gen pumped out 119V while running AC so that seems to be in control.
I measured 51 degree cold air coming out of ceiling duct with ambient in 80's

there is a gizmo one can put on a single a/c unit travel trailer or small motorhome that allegedly
dramatically increases airflow by simply inserting a better fitting air manifold into what they already provide.
there is a YT video showing you how to give certain exact measurements to the a/c accessory company, need to study that.
my real concern is California in late September and then coming through the deserts of the Southwest

I know in full sun my rv will not get the temps below 80 while 98 out in S. Florida.
I have a reflective screen for front windshield and using it on sunny days not optional.
The heat just pours back into the rv despite the fabric drapes.

so maybe I'll watch that YT video again and see how confident I am. If not, I'll call Ken.
it's something like 170 bucks and it increases rv a/c cooling significantly, like 20 percent.
If I stop and it's 105 out, have my concerns as to how pleasant that will be.
Thankfully the a/c unit in the truck is powerful so I've never run the gen and the ac while driving.
Just making sure I will be able to.

pretty sure the most efficient thing is to run the truck a/c constantly and a little colder than normal vs
running gen at several gallons an hour.

just wish I had a 50 amp two a/c unit but I don't so have to make the best of it.

Unless Scootr uses some of his considerable influence and gets the weather West of him to chill out
while I come by...

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 8:00AM, back in Orcutt, CA. Foggy early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High 82F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

If the RV generator hasn't been run in a while, Drew, could you be smelling dust and whatever burning off the exhaust? Or maybe a loose wire coming in contact with it? You're right to be concerned about hot weather in September inland from here. It can easily be in the high 90s and low 100s, but usually cools down into the 60s overnight. On the coast mid 80F highs are common. Rare to see 100F here.

No surprises on yesterday's trip down here, but oh my was it hot. The Promaster didn't seem to care, as the water temperature never budged off the normal value, and the hottest the engine oil got was 230F, with the transmission temperature about ten degrees below that. But when I got out to pump gas, it was like standing in front of a hair dryer. It didn't cool off until I hit the coast at Avilla Beach, and was in the mid 80s at the house.

Neighbor's driveway across the street was empty, and I used it to get the trailer lined up and backed into place in one go. Might be the last trip for it, and I finally have it almost figured out.

Can't do any unloading until I get the VW stuff I brought down last time put away, and I need to do some major re-arranging in the garage and back yard shed to do that.

I could hear the occasional firecracker going off in the afternoon, but the frequency steadily increased until dusk when it sounded like an all out war. Not the little safe-and-sane stuff at all, but everything from lady fingers to window rattling aerial shells, all of it highly illegal. Judging by the nearly constant sirens, the firemen were super busy last night, too. Haven't seen anything like it since a night in Baja, Mexico during one of the rally races. Total chaos and noise, fireworks in the sky, smoke everywhere, people yelling and screaming, music blaring. In spite of the noise, I dozed off in front of the TV and dragged myself off to bed at about 9PM. Man, was I beat.

TGIF gang!

Happy Anniversary to NHBX and the Missus !

78F and mostly cloudy @ 10:30, calling for a high of 85F for the day. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible.

Got quick coupler fittings installed on all 4 soaker hoses yesterday.

Was really nasty out there, Woman came out for a few minutes to check things out and then announced She was headed back inside to work on Her tootsies.

I was just dripping with sweat ... finally had to pull my t-shirt off which was next to impossible to do as it was soaked.

Did some work done on velcro'ing and weaving tomato plants into trellises after that.

Tallest indeterminate tomato plant is now above the vertical trellis it's on (>6' ?)

After that I pulled some of the staples out of the weedblock fabric at the east side of the garden on the north end and worked spreading and leveling the dirt.

A light drizzle started not long after that. Eventually it picked up and I checked the radar and it looked like significant rain was headed in ... so I headed over to the barn and parked the Cub and came on back to the house.

Wasn't long after that the rain started coming down in buckets.

Lasted for probably 10 to 15 minutes before tapering to a lighter steady rain.

Ended up watching several videos on pruning tomatoes while that was going on.

Eventually we got a second round - a 10 to 15 minute frog strangler followed steady rain.

Once that finished up and started to clear it was a little before 18:00 so I went out and hooked up the core aerator to the Cub and started working on the front lawn.

Got the front all cored in both directions by around 20:00: east/west and north/south.

Came inside and Woman had dinner ready so I ate and watched a couple of the 4th of July celebrations on the tele.

Around 22:00 we had another shower roll through, same deal as before: heavy downpour for around 10 - 15 minutes tapering off to steady rain for a while.

Closest LWS reported that they got 1.51" ... I still need to check the 5 gallon bucket out in the garden but I wouldn't be surprised if we got even more than that.

Pretty ironic:

Of course it was nearly guaranteed that if I made the trip up to Menards to get those 2 additional soaker hoses Nature would provide a good watering ...

Agenda for today:

Refill tube feeders and probably hopper feeder as well, also scatter some seed for the ground feeders.

Work on getting the dirt spread and the weedblock fabric pinned down on the eastern edge of the garden.

Work on getting the rest of the chain link fence removed from the tomatoes on the vertical trellis.

Top off hydraulic fluid on the Kubota now that I have the leak on the loader valve fixed, also check the gear oil in the front axle.

Friend will be coming by to drop off the 3PH top link bracket for his new tractor once I give him a call so I can use that as a guide for fabbing up the bracket for the diverter valve.

This:

Has to go here:

... up by the fuel tank, just under the rear window.

Might work on that later today if more rain shows up.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Day lilies going to town with the blooms:

Hope everyone has a decent Friday ... (y)

69°F and .04 inches rain.

Not much planned for the day. Recovery from the 4th

Neighbor wants me to take a look at his off grid solar that isn’t producing as it should. Not at all familiar with his system so not expecting much. Most likely something simple or a component failure.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
