Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 5:15AM. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 77F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
This new place is in the 'burbs, Drew, but so far I've seen opossums and raccoons in the back yard. Knock on wood none of them have found the trash can yet.
Glad to read that you and Jr. are getting along OK without you being able to drive, Bill. Any such thing as Uber or Lyft up there in case you wear out his legs?
More rearranging in the garage yesterday, but still not happy with the result. The mill was in a corner up north and that was a very efficient and out of the way place for it. Three of the corners here have doors on one side, the last corner has the water heater. Couldn't block any of them with the mill, so it ended up next to the door into the laundry room, about four feet from the wall out in the middle of everything. Had a bit of a scare when I saw that the head was still tipped over at a 45° angle and that it was sitting under one of the hanging shelves. Had to remove one of the 2x4 supports from the shelf to let the head go completely vertical, but there's not much weight on the shelf and the head ended up with a few sheets of typing paper worth of clearance above it. Had to use the rope winch to move the mill into position, and had to install a screw eye into the wall to provide an anchor. For some reason it wasn't rolling easily on the lengths of 1/2" pipe I used up north, so maybe the floor down here isn't as level?
The giant Big Boy locomotive came down the Feather River Canyon up north yesterday. Kinda wish I'd been up there to see it, but from all accounts the traffic was a mess with all the train spotters chasing it. I wondered at the wisdom of running a coal fired engine on those tracks at the peak of wildfire season, and
a new wildfire broke out near Railbridge Road, but thank goodness it's no where near the
tracks Big Boy ran on.
More rearranging today, then BBQ pizza with friends tonight. And a trip to the grocery store and Costco some time in between.
TGIF gang!
