It has been raining this morning so I went over and picked up my 60x40x14 pole barn materials, should be able to start on it this Saturday.
My shop is 60x40x14. I had it built in 2005. I have a 12' high x 14' wide roll up door on the north and south ends. The shop is 60' north and south.

Since then, I added a 20x60 lean to on the east side to store equipment. About a year ago, I added a 20x30 kitchen on the west side with a 20x30 area in front of the kitchen/office to park my truck.

One suggestion I would have is to build it with expanding and adding to it in mind. I'm glad I did that with mine.

Thanks for the tip, that is my plan to add a 24' deep by 60' long lean to on both sides, probably next year, this barn will be for more hay storage and equipment, hence the lean to on each side for next year. With heat advisory's everyday this is about all I want to jump on right now, my brother in laws are coming to help me Saturday. I built a 32' by 60' back in 2004 and I put a bathroom and shower in it, loft and poured concrete under it, added a 20' lean to on one side a few years later but it is full.

Did you buy a package from somewhere or put it together yourself?
No there are several places around here that sell these kits, the place I went and bought mine put the 40 x 60 x 14 eave height kit on sale for $8k with 8 x 8 post, so I decided I would save the delivery charge and go pick it up today since it was raining, it was about a 50 mile trip over there, gave me and my 17 year old boy plenty of time to talk about any and everything, I treasure the time because I know he will be grown and gone before I know it.

That's a good price. My farm equipment shed is 40x60x17, all metal. I have $15K in it turn key. I built it that tall to get my track hoe in that I had at the time. I want to close in the west side of it. That's where all the wind and rain comes from.

A little headway on the barn layout and 3 posts set yesterday afternoon and a little skid steer brushcutting job this morning, back to post setting this afternoon with any luck. Didn't get any after pictures, but people are always asking about things I find on jobs, well this morning I found 2 old bush hog mowers an old propane tank, some old concrete trailer steps and to many cinder blocks and old tires to count.

I'm afraid if I stop I might rust up, I also figure one day I won't be able to get after it and I want the folks that know me to say he lived everyday the best that he could, I didn't think that I would but I miss being a lineman, but the other things I do tide me over.

You may not be able to tell it but all 12 post's are set plumbed and tamped and cut off to the right height, the only snag we run into was 2 big fat lighter stumps were right where 2 post had to go, so we had to dig around them and get a chain on them and pull them out with the skid steer, got more skidsteer work in the morning but should be able to work on the barn some more tomorrow.

How deep are you going with your posts? Are you using concrete to hold them in there?
