I don’t understand why people just don’t get stuff delivered. I mean you don’t “just suddenly need” 40-2x6 16’ boards. You knew that you were going to need them. Don’t be stupid. Lumber yards all deliver.

After my skull fracture at 6th of June 2022, it will be next week Tuesday when i meet the insurance doctor who will decide if i get a penny back on my 23 years of paying into the system... (so far my employer had to insure for this, 2 years though they called me in 3 months late because they thought it would be just a concussion) and overworked insurance doctor, good ones have fled this system because of the huge work pressure so poor ones who cant get a job in a more human role in medicine remain, which only exacerbates the problem.

Anyways, i've taken my precautions and started to design something that is patent worthy and when the system doesnt cover me, i will go full USA mode and put my limited energy in free enterprise and let the non-risktakers make the physical effort... I havent been much of a risk taker ever, ive spent too much energy on my payd job. But now my employer let me drop like a dead corpse, i would be back up against a wall, so F em all..

Really, every socialist idea forgets the human factor... all humans are flawed, even the medically educated ones who decide if you get benefits that youve payd 23 years for, or not. Really, a government who promises security, means a pencil pusher who decides whether you get your own money back or not. The more i know i'm going to need social security, the less secure i feel within the system, especially after it hit the newspapers of how they are treating Long-Covid, ME, or aquired brain injury.

Ive been interested in the American way of life and been on TBN for 20 years, but when push comes to shove, i am not sure the European system hailed by Bernie Sanders treats me better...

in Canada if you have a back injury and you want it fix, you fly to Germany

100%... I got caught once setting these jack too tight to the ground, I had to unload the tractor and start over but better then the alternative. I also don't understand the decision on jumping off the trailer, just keep going forward it would've stop once the tractor pass the axels.

Exactly. And with one five-minute phone call or 10 minute web session, you get to save at least a few hours driving to and dicking around at Lowes Depot. You can easily burn off half a day trying to save one $50 delivery charge.

I assume he must have not realized quickly enough, why the rig was rolling away. Maybe he figured the brake / transmission had failed, rather than just lifting the rear axle.

Having free-wheeled a RWD tractor down a hill once, I can say for certain you don't need to actually lift the rear axle off the ground, for the truck to take off like this. You just need to remove enough weight that the reduced friction force allows the rig to skid forward. So, it's not always visually obvious what is happening, in the fractional-seconds the operator has to make a decision.

Personally, I remember stomping on the brake a few times, assuming that was slipping, as I had not felt the rear axle lifting at all. The rear axle was in fact not lifting, it had just become light enough for the tires to slip on damp grass.

They have to justify buying a pickup truck for $80K+. And that trailer must have set him back $500.

Yeah that's true... it is easy to criticize sitting behind the key board... I have learn that as well, make sure the truck is straight with the dump trailer while dumping on a up hill and or chock the wheels.
