Cartridge must have a straight wall, not be necked down. No 308, 30-06 etc, you can use 450 bushmaster , 45-70 Gov, etc that have a straight wall case.

As of January 2021, several states with large deer populations, including Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, and Indiana, have passed laws allowing straight-wall cartridges in areas that were previously only open to shotguns or muzzleloaders.
Is the term "straight wall" the same as no rifling, [meaning] no twisting groves inside the barrel to make the bullet spin?

BUT, some states have cartridge "length" limits too, and the 45/70 is too long, also there are some other limitations too.

BTW, I bought a new Kubota last week, but I did buy 20 pounds of potatoes from a potato farmer for 6 bucks this week...

Lets see the new Kubota!!! (y)

12 gauge (shotgun) slug guns are still used a lot, but many of us have gone "smaller".

I pulled this from the IA DNR site:

"Legal firearms for the youth/disabled and shotgun 1 and 2 seasons include:
  • Pistols and revolvers (with a minimum barrel length of 4 inches)
  • Straight-wall and "necked-down" cartridge rifles shooting an expanding type bullet of at least .350 inches and no greater than .500 inches with at least 500 foot pounds of muzzle energy.
This includes, but is not limited to, the following common calibers: .35 Whelen, .350 Legend, .358 Winchester, .375 Winchester, .40 S&W, .44 Magnum, .444 Marlin, .45 Long Colt, .45 Raptor, .450 Bushmaster, .450 Marlin, .45-70 Govt, .460 S&W and .500 S&W.
If you’re not sure if your cartridge is allowed, please check with your local DNR conservation officer.

All of them, as long as they have a bullet diameter between 0.350 inches and 0.500 inches."

Iowa is no longer just a straight wall state, good info.

Over the last few years, there has been a rash of cancer cases in our part of the county. Thankfully, we have not been affected. We have been drinking our untreated deep well water for 40 years. Thinking this might be a contributing factor, I had the well water tested by a certified lab. The results turned up levels of arsenic, lithium, coliform bacteria, and radioactive particulates, slightly above EPA allowable levels for drinking water.

As a precaution, I bought this reverse osmosis filter system:

Pricey, yes, but we feel it's worth the expense for our peace of mind.

What do you think about this deal? Was gonna go grab it today.

I have some masonry sawing to do and would like to have more DeWalt 9AH batteries.
Gets very good ratings.

About $850 new on Amazone

Only drawback I see is it looks like it might be too much of a “toy”.

Could be a good deal! As he says in the ad, the two batteries are worth more than the asking price. Of course, that depends on how well the batteries were treated.

Regardless of how well the saw works, it's just icing on the cake.

While not a saw, I bought a 20V Dewalt grinder.

Most definitely not a toy like my previous Porter Cable grinder.
