I've been there. Stumps are dense and deceptively heavy...

That's saving LOT of back and muscle pain. (y)
Yep, with my blown L4 and L5 i could not do anything at all. Now the heavies thing i have to lift is the chain to secure the stumps while transporting them to the burn pile.

I got some cherry pulled out of the woods today while the wife split some ash.

Sure wish Champion didn’t put a slanted wedge on their product. Makes it hard to slip on a 4 way. I don’t think they even make one for this machine.

While it wasn't my top choice of splitters, the 27 ton has been good to us so far. We have only had it for 1.5 years now, though. With it on sale and a 20% off coupon at home depot it was just over $800. Couldn't touch a used one at that price at the time and could probably get close to that if i sold it now. It has split anything I've put in it with no mechanical problems at all. With a pretty fast cycle time, it's work to keep up.
I don't really agree with the free shirt for a review that they do. It leads most people to write one before they have even used the thing. (Like my wife)
The wife can start it easily and it keeps her busy, so that's a plus. There's not many weekends in August that you can be working on Firewood, but I'll take it.
