I was able to find a local pharmacy that would compound Ozempic for 200 a month vs 785 with insurance, so I went on that
two weeks ago. Gained a pound first week. Lost two second week, give myself the shot every Sat morning and weigh myself.
Will be very interested to see how/if losing weight helps my BP and sugar levels.

you have to load your own syringes to get this price, but it's not hard. Tiny needle, don't feel it.
pinch an inch (or more....) and in it goes. Have had zero side effects, they say 15 percent get nausea of some kind.

I'm going on a two month rv trip across the country in a week and trying to think about healthy eating on my way.
yes I'm going to eat a lot of barbecue and who knows what else, sampling local fare. But mostly I pack my own food and cook
it, don't go out to eat or do fast food. Trying to eat more fruit as an alternative to anything else sweet.
Not having a car, (not towing behind a class C) not so easy to shop, usually have to hit large supermarkets, not farm stands due to parking.
And a smallish fridge in rv though I do have a second freezer. So my biggest challenge will be fresh veggies; frozen stuff is actually easier for me.
Packing a lot of nuts and dried fruit.
very easy to eat nothing but comfort food on a trip and particularly "road food" is often not so healthy.
my days of eating deep fried apple pies from convenience counters are now long over.
need to get some decent granola bars not loaded with sugar.

I have a friend who reversed diabetes. He is 65 yr old and grows and eats a very strictly healthy diet. And he is very active. I'm 70, controlling type 2, I eat a Keto diet and stay active. I lost 40 pounds controlling my diet.
I'm not on an exercise plan although I should be  My goal is simply to maintain decent health and mobility as long as possible so I can do some things I love without too much trouble. Enjoy your trip, be true to yourself and your needs. Most BBQ sauces are loaded with sugar.
You probably already know
While sugar is bad, processed carbs are equally bad. Just have that Ribeye steak with a side of veggies.

Drew I have lost 21 pounds in three months with help from ozempic and eating smart

I see ozempic as a stepping stone, start losing weight and add exercise. I have a friend who discovered he was diabetic a few mos back with an a1C of 14. He's on Metformin now, losing weight and BS readings coming down fast. Another stepping stone drug, hopefully.

I have been diabetic since 2002 lost from 240 to 168 pounds still diabetic. I feel best at 185 pounds. Metformin after 20 years started damaging kidneys so now 4 shots of insulin a day. This past winter I ate too much feeling sorry for myself and shot up to 210 now at 189

Drew - Back in January thru February I lost about 30lbs with the combination of RSV and losing a cap off a tooth, have managed to keep the weight off so far. The RSV made it so I didn't want to eat, the tooth problem (couldn't get to dentist until June) made me switch foods. Nothing chewy, virtually no meat, lot's of fish and whey type protein drinks.
Wouldn't recommend the RSV as a weight loss plan.

As I prepare to make jelly from my abundant blackberry and black raspberry yields this year, I have been researching low or no sugar recipes. Two sugar substitutes I was seeing are Allolose and Monk Fruit. There is a lot of info on line if you do a search but does anyone have any experiance with these products?

Side bar question. How much jelly do you consume in a day? For most people, its not enough calories to worry about substitute sweeteners.

So if I have one cup of coffee when I go for coffee and add one teaspoon of sugar... It's not enough sugar to be concerned about? I have 4 - 6 cups of coffee a week
