So if I have one cup of coffee when I go for coffee and add one teaspoon of sugar... It's not enough sugar to be concerned about? I have 4 - 6 cups of coffee a week
One teaspoon of sugar is 15 calories. (see below) Are you moving around some? if so, this would be burned up in minutes.

Look at the nutrition facts label on a package of white or brown sugar, the serving size is one teaspoon. Sliding down the label to the total carbohydrates it reads sugars “4g,” or “4 grams.” This important bit of information is your key to converting grams into teaspoons. Four grams of sugar is equal to one teaspoon. To be precise, 4.2 grams equals a teaspoon, but the nutrition facts rounds this number down to four grams.

that's very helpful
you look at label and it says 4 grams of added sugar
how much is that really?
one teaspoon

that's how much I put in a cup of coffee and only my first cup of the day, not subsequent ones.
They only get a little milk.

I always try to look how many grams of sugar and particularly added sugar the food has.
Added sugar is sure to be avoided.

I still can't give up the whole grain bread. Somehow it seems in my genes to eat heavy dark bread.
just know I can't eat four slices of it every day. But I'll continue with two, for my sandwich usually.
and if nothing else works, guess I'll have to give that up too.

I lost two pounds last week, after gaining one.
absolutely normal for me.
being confined to an rv for two months
will make this an interesting next few months food wise.
specifically....eating foods that I don't have to wash off plates and veggie matter winds up
in grey tank of rv. Paper plates helps... but rv plumbing is much smaller than residential and not only can stuff
get clogged in there, the grey tank and its level sensors get mucked up. I've lived on a boat for years before, so
I understand restricted plumbing and what cannot go in there.

I've got frozen meals and veggies all set in the home freezer.
But once a week hope to get fresh food and particularly fresh chopped fruit.
I love that for breakfast. And a nice muffin.
but maybe not a half pound greasy apple turnover any more...
food choices, have to make better choices

Side bar question. How much jelly do you consume in a day? For most people, its not enough calories to worry about substitute sweeteners.
Usually just enough for two slices of bread. I am not diabetic but do have to watch my sugar intake. I share with neighbors and members at our church, some of whom are diabetic.

The average adult has 4 g of glucose in their blood at optimal blood glucose levels.
1 tsp sugar turns to 4 g glucose which doubles your blood glucose.
1 slice of bread has maybe 15 g carbohydrates which turns to 15 g glucose in the blood, basically nearly 5x your normal blood glucose.
At my current understanding, eating any carbs can only make things worse.
My mother died at 68 with diabetes related complications, after years of obesity. She did what the doctor ordered. Very sad.

Every diabetic in the world is different but here is some "generic" advice. We all need to move around some, the more you do that, the more we can eat. The more you are overweight and are sedimentary, the likelihood of type II goes up, really up. Find something that is fun to do and burns calories.

There's more sugar in an apple than a typical donut.
My CGM says otherwise. I can eat a whole apple and my BG will not stop going down but a banana will make it shot up so high, I can only eat 1/2 at a time. A Continuous Glucose Monitor is your freind and tell you what various food are doing to you.
