Another thing I didn't mention is that you don't have to stay in-brand. Milwaukee was charging a silly fortune for these blades when I bought my bandsaw, but DeWalt makes exactly the same size loops at a much lower cost, so I just bought DeWalt for most of the sizes I need. All you care about is blade width and length, when comparing two blades of the same TPI and material.

Seems they're many company's are building (or selling) 44-7/8-inch x 1/2 blades.

That’s a tool on my radar, I’ve never used one but definitely see its usefulness. I cut most of my metal with a cutoff wheel or occasionally the plasma cutter.

Used to have a corded Milwaukee, that I gave to my brother when he needed one. Am thinking of getting a Hercules 20v model.

These porta saws are very handy when you need one.

HF has their deep cut porta band on sale this month...

That'll be great in 1/4" thick material, but pretty grabby in anything much under 1/8". Sometimes when I already have a coarse blade chocked in the saw, and I want to make a quick cut on something thin without changing, I just angle the cut to extend the kerf length. Good old Pythagorean theorem stuff, the hypotenuse is always longer than the legs.

Interesting aside, the Pythagoreans never knew the Pythagorean theorem. It came to be named for them because they had huge written tables of different triangle relationships, which they appear to have created by physically drawing or building the triangles and measuring them. There's no evidence they ever knew a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
