Two Post 12k pound vehicle lift

Pouring the concrete in my shop today... I have a footer prepared for a 2 post 12k pound capacity vehicle lift.

This is the lift I have coming.

Those of you with lifts, what do you have? Would you do anything different?

My neighbor just installed that same lift in his new shop. He really likes it.
I think he dug down 2' in a 4x4' square for the footings, but I'm not certain.

I have a Champion 9,000 lb 2 post. Been at least 10 years now. Only thing I'd do different would be to buy a 4 post drive on lift. As I've gotten older it gets harder to get on the floor to set the lift arms then get up

My slab is 4" thick Fiber Concrete, and my "footer" pads are 36" by 36" square and a total of 8" deep. I went a wee bit overboard, don't want anything to fail. There are a lot of choices out there, I'm familiar with the Atlas brand, this one is a "commercial grade" but not ALI certified. It will do everything I need it to do, could get by with a 10k lift easy, but I wanted some safety cushion... so I am doing the 12k lift.

Nice size lift!
I have a 2 post 9000lb lift.
I know I time positioning it to be effective for my uses. Leave enough room between the longest vehicle and your door. Watch out for overhead clearance alsio. Invest in some type of stablizer posts to be placed at each end of a long vehicle. A set if extensions for the lifting pads to clear low running boards is nice if it does not come with them.

I was given a 10,000# 4 post, and never turn down a gift. But i always wanted a 2 post lift so wheels are free to hang.

Make sure you have enough clearance to be able to pull axle shaft out if need be. I put mine 5 ft off of the wall just for that reason. I also wired up an outlet and drop light off of the power coming in

Maybe add some LED light to the lift arms for lighting. LEDs have opened a new world of lighting! Just something I would done if I had a shop, let alone a lift to work with!

Right now, my new lift is temporarily being used as an amish carriage lift….until i can relocate it next year to a better location. I sure wish it was a 2 post.

But it does free up some winter storage space for me

I have a 10K Forward lift Made by Rotary. I wish I had a 4 post instead.
Lifting many different vehicles require you to position each vehicle differently.
Always having to adjust to get the vehicle just right for the lift arms to go to the right spot. It's also a tight squeeze to get in and out of the vehicle due to the doors hitting the post.
I just believe a 4 post would be much easier. You can buy jacks to go under the front and rear to get all 4 wheels off the the lift
