+1 for Amana in the "French door" style. We have two in the family that are an average age of 20 years, with no issues (knock on wood!), but the trouble with that is that are for fridges made many moons ago. I have no idea what the current quality is, or isn't.

I would never do a side by side or top fridge. I have lived with both styles, and was reminded each and every time I opened them why I didn't like them.

All the best,

Peter
Currently have the bottom freezer that came with the house... I adapted but much prefer top freezer

I am in the same boat looking for all appliances, and let me tell you it is a scary place to be.
Most of them are crap is the information I am gathering from my research, total crap shoot on whether you get a good one or a lemon. There are some things you can to help, but there are no guarantees. THey say even the $10k+ sub zeros and Thermadors are having quality issues now. It is coming down to the wire for me as I need these things in 2 or 3 weeks max. I am leaning towards Bosch 800 series at the moment for fridge. Best of luck!

Work just sent blast email 25% off all Bosch appliances...

Thing is I don't need any appliances.

Send me the code!
It says friends and family but needs to be ordered on my work computer... it's legit because it's part of the perks package.

We bought a Bosch French Door fridge a few months ago and my wife and I both really like it. The ice maker dumps the ice into a tray and there is a scoop provided to scoop the ice out. There is a water dispense inside the fridge on the left wall. It does no stick out but instead is just a sloped section of a cone. It is deceptively easy to use and fills glasses as well as water bottles with ease and no spillage. I get ice and water from the fridge every day and loveit.

P.S.
The French call French Door Fridges American Door fridges. And the English call French Doors on houses French Windows.

I'm stuck down in Mississippi for about 2 more weeks and my live-at-home (Alexandria, Va) 34 yr. old son calls and says it sounds like the compressor on the fridge is dying.
It's only 19 years old!
So it looks like I need to buy a new fridge/freezer.
Critical points - in order of importance
Don't want a blasted side-by-side fridge/freezer, sides are too narrow to slide in an XLarge pizza box (french door fridge with freezer below is ok with me)
Looking for one with the freezer in the bottom, wife is short. I can sit down to access freezer easier than she can get taller.
Want QUALITY like a Speed Queen washer - no flash in the pan Samsung.
Doesn't need to be BIG, (except for the pizza box), son works at a restaurant/nightclub and wife and I don't eat big meals anymore, 20 cubic feet should do.
No fancy features.
Best Carpet Cleaning
I bought a ~$300 Whirlpool (18 cu ft w/ a top fridge) back in 2010 for the Mississippi house. Only "frill" was an inside the freezer ice maker. Suits us fine.
I recommend looking into a French door refrigerator with a bottom freezer that offers a good balance of quality and functionality without unnecessary features. Brands like Whirlpool, LG, and Frigidaire are known for their reliability and quality, similar to what you’d expect from a Speed Queen washer. For your needs, consider a model around 20 cubic feet to ensure it fits your pizza box while being compact enough for your household. A good option might be the Whirlpool WRB322DMBM, which has a spacious bottom freezer, is user-friendly, and has a solid reputation for durability. If you want to avoid the flashier brands, stick to models from Maytag or GE, as they offer reliable choices that meet your requirements without excessive features. Make sure to check local appliance stores or online retailers for availability and pricing.

Maybe it's just everyone I know that bought LG were the unlucky ones with bad compressors?

I counted 5 including me at a property I managed.

Nothing like this have I experienced and each person liked their refrigerator until they were faced with replacing the compressor.
