I have heard that a common problem on many diesels is that they are run so lean that cylinder wall temps can get out of hand and cause severe cavitation which creates issues with engine temperature control.
Yikes I hope not. What we could see of the liners looked ok

Well, it was my turn to get the bear. :(
I lost a head gasket. It’s fixed. Can’t bear to type out the cost.
Parts have now reached a point where the cost as much as gold.
I had to replace every seal, since everything had to come off the head. Injector seals, exhaust manny seal, turbo seal, etc. IH parts are almost at the price of CAT parts.

At least the head itself was ok, but still over $1,000 to send it out and check it alone. Gaskets & head bolts were like $2,500…..
Ahh man! I wish I had the experience to help answer the questions that you posted further down this thread. Was just chiming in with sympathy because I've been following along with your adventures with this piece of equipment and it's a bummer to see you go through this with all the work you've put into getting the truck to where you want it.

Hey thanks.
I kind of expected some setbacks, but not a head gasket this early. However, I have been learning it that the IH diesels can be expensive to fix.
I am back on the road and running it, so at least it’s being used to make money again.

Does your truck have AC? This relates to cars and pickup trucks but the electric fans come on when the ac is on. Is your ac cycling and that makes the fan cycle. A long shot but I’m tossing it out there.

Unfortunately not just IH. I can't imagine what you had to put out to repair your rig.
Priced a pair of front rotors and a set of pads for my '19 Ram 1500 today from the dealer. CAN $274 each for the rotors and CAN $370 for the pads and that was jobbers price and that's not a missprint neither. Needless to say, the stealers aren't getting my money, ridiculous prices, even the parts guy said that was a crazy price and told me "I bet you won't get them here"

I just put rear rotors and pads on my 19 RAM, drilled and slotted Power Stop Z23's $283 for the full set.

Anyone else operate a large displacement diesel experience a lot of cooling fan cycling?
Everything else I have run seems to find 195* and sit there.
This HT570 will climb to 210, kick on fan, cool off to 195 then repeat the cycle.
I know a lot has changed with diesels, but this doesn't seem correct

My DT466 truck would cycling like that but my international with a M11 Cummins always sat around 190 and so does my Volvo D13.

I put rotors on my F-550 a while back and I surfaced 2 of them but the other 2 were beyond saving and they were $110 each. They were too big for the parts store to do in the brake lathe but I have access to a flywheel grinder which did slick work of the rotors.

don't worry about the fan cycle. School buses, cycled literally non stop their entire life, and we never had failures.

Has AC, but it’s broken. I’ve spent more than I’d like to admit on it, too.
Related: I think the fan in my truck may be air powered, I will check.
