25hp primarily for mowing?

My NH WM75 uses DOC/EGR technology. The manual doesn't even mention anything about it or any operating parameters. The Case utility series are the same. MF tractors also do not have DPF. With a 70-75 hp tractor you can run a 12' batwing without any problems, like Eddie Walker does with his MF.

Before I bought my MF 5711D, I seriously looked at the MF 4707; 70Hp and no DPR with good tractor weight and a nice price for what it offered.

I really like the Massey cab better than the John Deere cabs of tractors past too. The Massey cab is also a lot nicer than the Kubota cabs when I looked at the Kubota M5 and M6 series however, the Massey "Dyna" transmission won me over since Kubota couldn't deliver the 24-speed transmission I wanted and the Massey was $20,000 cheaper too with a superior loader.

Absolutely. I am debating selling my Kubota L4600 to get a Massey 28M though, I am looking at the TYM options too.

Overall, the TYM is a lot cheaper and looks to fit my needs well. Dealer support is a bit better too. I wish there was a local Yanmar dealer but, I'm not traveling 300 miles each way for service needs.

The Massey 26xx series is a little basic and old school but, are priced well too and have good weight and weight distribution to be a good "field" tractor but, they lack a nice cab option like the more modern Massey options.

I came close to buying a Massey 2606 with a loader from a flipper on the local highway for $25K that had ~300 hours but, I didn't really warm up to that sales operation. What can I say, those older Massey's, especially with a Perkin's engine really are a sweet running machine that is fuel efficient, unlike the John Deere's I grew up on. It is also nice you don't need a ~$40K laptop to diagnose a problem.

Stopped by the Yanmar dealer on the way home from the new place (haven't moved yet) and took a close look at the YT347. Wife climbed in the cab and gave me the thumbs up to purchase. Dealership was closed so we couldn't test drive. Yanmar is offering $4500 rebate this month as well as military discount (not sure how much). As long as the dealer doesn't really screw this up, I'll have a new tractor this week. I'll also get a third function and grapple with the tractor and just need to figure out the mower. Once option is a 6' Caroni flail from Agri Supply, they have them in stock and I drive by there on the way to the place. I'm going to look at options before I make that decision.

This is the area I'm mowing, the driveway goes a good bit further off the front of the picture and the woods go a good bit off the left of the picture. There are also open areas around the pond that you can't see in the pic due to the trees, and some overgrown trials in the woods I want to maintain.

This is what the grass in the open areas looks like, hard to tell how thick it is from the pic, and for reference the brown stalks average about 2.5-3' tall.

I have a zero turn, no way that would cute it. A batwing would be nice for a few areas but wouldn’t work on a lot of the property, it’s too tight.

Super property. With that amount of pasture, you’re gonna need a dedicated mowing machine of at least 55 to 60 hp and preferably 2wd and in no form or fashion would l consider a flail as l just don’t have the patience of having to go slow.
Plenty of used in this category and nothing smaller in a cutter than 8 ft.
I’d get rid of trees first before considering a smaller cutter.
After a couple few times, cutting 20 acres will get tired real quick with smaller stuff.

If you're not raising animals on it, why not let it just turn back into woods? That will happen naturally, and take fewer years than you might imagine, or could be planted to speed things along.

I've watched a few local lots go back to woods, just being left alone for 10 years. Given another 10 years, you'd never know they were ever pasture, excepting that the predominant trees (cedar) are an indicator it's a young woods. Sure beats mowing 20 acres, if you don't need the pasture.

I don't see why a batwing isn't an option, but that's easy enough to change once you get used to the place. Just make sure you get a big enough tractor to have the option for a bigger mower.

When everything is new, it's fun. Five years from now, it will become a chore that you will want to get done as quickly as possible.

Reason why I have 2 tractors. I FM. with the Yanmar at least 3.5-4 acres Weekly for 8 months of the Yr.. The rest of the 7 acres was clear cut decades ago. Purchased by my mother. The property was a old tree farm! It already started growing up on the back of the property before I built my house. At least 40 yrs. ago. To keep up with it since it's grown trees now and pretty much woods is why I purchased my 48Hp. Ford. I use a old International BH. to keep up with it. It's Just plain Brutal!! I don't have to worry about mowing it. Clearing fallen trees now mostly. Which isn't very often. An old 1963 4cyl. and a Wagner FEL. I found on CL. still all intact. Had to split it etc. but since the use was not going to be often I had plenty of time to get everything working. Old as I am so the cool factor is off the Chart!! No use for a flail....
