25hp primarily for mowing?

Reason why I have 2 tractors. I FM. with the Yanmar at least 3.5-4 acres Weekly for 8 months of the Yr.. The rest of the 7 acres was clear cut decades ago. Purchased by my mother. The property was a old tree farm! It already started growing up on the back of the property before I built my house. At least 40 yrs. ago. To keep up with it since it's grown trees now and pretty much woods is why I purchased my 48Hp. Ford. I use a old International BH. to keep up with it. It's Just plain Brutal!! I don't have to worry about mowing it. Clearing fallen trees now mostly. Which isn't very often. An old 1963 4cyl. and a Wagner FEL. I found on CL. still all intact. Had to split it etc. but since the use was not going to be often I had plenty of time to get everything working. Old as I am so the cool factor is off the Chart!! No use for a flail....
Flails have their place. It is nice NOT LAUNCHING objects out of the mower. Definitely get chains if you do a classic rotary or batwing mower.

How about a heavy duty finish mower? Something like a Woods RD990x? With a new place and a new tractor, bat wing is not in the budget.

Rear discharge on the FM. that has a Chain Guard protecting anything from getting thrown out the back. The pic. Woods/JD. Frontier 60". The BH. just not any issue if it happens. Blade speed super slow compared to a FM..

I've used both for a couple decades and never had any problem what so ever. No power steering on the Ford and the weight helps ballast the front so it stays on

I have a 7 foot finish mower. If the grass was fairly short, it gave a better looking cut then my 5 foot rotary cutter. But it wasn’t even close to what my zero turn does. It didn’t take too long for the grass to get too tall for the finish mower and then it wasn’t worth using. I still have it, but I haven’t used it in almost a decade.

I paid $13,000 for my 12 foot batwing. It’s made by Iron Craft. I put $3,000 down and my payments are $181 a month. I usually pay twice that to pay it off sooner

Pulled the trigger on the Yanmar and stepped up the the YT359 as it felt worth it for the small price difference. Now I need to figure out a mower, I can pickup a Caroni flail or a Woods RD990x this week, the Woods is more than twice the price but also a fair bit bigger and I assume I could run it faster and still get a decent cut.

That's going to be one heck of an upgrade in comfort over the old Kioti.

I hope so! The older I get the more i appreciate comfort.

An old dealer around here sells both Massey Ferguson and Yanmar, so two very good brands, and the salesman that's been there as far back as my conscious memory likes to refer to the cab Yanmar units as space age. He feels that they're that far ahead in creature comforts.

Wow... he must be old! Have you told him that the "space age" was roughly 1958 - 1972?

"Comfortable," said no astronaut of the space age... ever. :ROFLMAO:

His mindset is considerably older than his body, and his employer has been around since the aforementioned space age.

Of course his space age may be more Star Trek and less Soyuz. Mine certainly is.

🤣
