Mixing concrete - "Mud mixer" alternative. Steele mixer

I’ve watched a few videos of it, but they were all on tiny jobs. Was 40 sacks the total, or was that your hourly rate?

My biggest issue with it is the price. But I’m also unsure if it’s any better then the Imer Cement Mixer that I already have

The edge that you drop a bag on and it breaks into the hopper is pretty neat. But you could put that on any mixer.

Every sack of concrete that I’ve ever bought has a fold at one end that is easy to tear open the sack with my hands. Just pull it apart and dump it into the mixer.

40 bags for a slab to put a 2000 lb fireplace on. I don’t know why anyone would mix by hand if you could rent the mud mixer. $75 and 1-1/2 hours from picking it up to returning it.

I've mixed a pallet at a time on several occasions, and is no fun. The mudmixer does seem to make it a lot easier, from the auto water, to the auto discharge, the shoot, and the bag cutter. Let's face it, they look like they take about 50% of the work out of it.

You still have to lift every bag. That's at least half the work right there.

Which would you rather be on a conventional mixer: the guy measuring water and cutting bags, or the guy lifting bags?

I've always mixed with a hoe in a wheel barrow, or with a flat shovel in a loader bucket. With that, I'd rather lift and carry bags, than mix them.

Not many diy's realize this.

If you are mixing, by hand, by mixer, in a loader, whatever, if you are able to have the top row on the pallet be about waist high, it makes life easier. So, if you have pallet forks, and can lift the pallet, makes a big difference

I get bags loaded in my truck bed. My mixer drum sits about even with the truck bed so I avoid most of the lifting. After mixing, I dump it in a tub or 5 gallon bucket in my tractor bucket to move it where needed.

How about the guy lifting the margaritas? I'll take that job!
