Woke up this morning to read that the Mexican President has agreed to stop the migrants crossing into the US through her country.
YUP,
The smart people had this notion all along. Glad they will soon be fully in charge. seems all these second guessers and self-anointed economical experts in this forum just have a personal vendetta. The start of this thread suggested that as well.

Also for those that don't think government policies and regulations are not a significant player in inflation....well lets just say we know better.

Too little too late. She can pay the bill to deport all the illegals back to Mexico that crossed the Mexican border

Government policies and regulations always affect inflation. I think many of us are saying that that are other things that create inflation as well, and some are arguing that the free market can never be responsible for inflation. Both interact and affect inflation.

A good Thanksgiving News Recipe is to take one issue each of the NY Post & NY Times, blend well, and divide into equal servings.
It was on several news stations....and online platforms. "Just the News" posted a Reuters report that Sheinbauam said they discussed illegal immigration and drug trafficking....according to her no agreement was reached. (Political posturing the norm.)

She is a socialist so promotion of open borders is what they are known for....At least there is dialog but her open borders become our problem as they just pass them on through with help from our government sponsored NGOs and Cartels.....She said "Mexico's stance is to not close borders, but to build bridges between governments and their peoples" We saw how that worked in socialist Europe, so take that for whats its worth? The after thought in Europe, not much.

Open borders along with closed borders are broad brushes....Come though legally and the border is open. Come through illegally the border is closed. Hope this is where they are at?...... She needs to represent her people and not the cartels....They are entrenched into their society and have all the power.

stopping the flow is essential. This is what the people of the USA want.

Yup, them horses are out of the barn and roaming the plains of the USA. Fields of hay and alfalfa and bags of of high quality grain at their disposal.

that said the Cartels own them and they never pay their bills.

In the past there has been a minimum purchase amount for tariffs. Somewhere around $1000.

If you purchase repair parts direct from China (eBay, Alibaba, AliExpress, Amazon, etc), you won't need to pay the tariffs.

Local retailers will love that.

Inflation rate is an overall average of many things, not just groceries. Some things are obviously selling for a lot more than the average rate, while other things haven’t increased as much.
Computers have gotten better, but the prices haven't gone up for almost 40 years.

According to the Brookings Institute, the US needs some immigration to offset the country's population declne in the last 20 years. Not too much or too few, but in the region of a million per year to maintain current levels. That's simple demographics and hard to refute.

And similarly, according to the office of Homeland Security studies, the current number of illegals is estimated to be about eleven million per year.

I don't think that connecting tariffs with immigration is the answer to either problem, but agree the problems are real. It's also easier to define a problem than a solution. I doubt that tariffs are going to help with that problem - or with any large problem.
