I drove my CJ 3A as a daily in and around Los Angeles for years, and on a Virginia to California trip.Over the years we have owned many Cherokees, several Wranglers a few CJ's and they were all competent highway vehicles. The CJ's the touchiest but when driven with the knowledge of their characterize competent on the road..
Of course, the latter was more like driving an EV. Only short distances covered each day, and slowly.
On the other hand, I got it up about 90 mph once (no windshield helped a lot), all with a spring-over conversion, maximized articulation, and an 80-inch wheelbase.
Yes, I rolled it over several times, but never when driving on roads.
