$1.49 was a great price. The lowest I saw it before Covid ruined everything was $1.11 I really thought it was going to go under a buck a gallon.

Many do not realize the magnitude of the impact of the cost of fuel on everything.
I would bet much of the current record inflation we are going through is fuel cost related.

1100C to complement the trusty but rusty RTV900.
On a short hike with the pup, I followed what I thought were boot prints in the melted snow looking for another trail out of the clearing to go back to the parking lot. The track were straight and gait seem correct for a human. Due to the snow melt & refreeze, there was not a lot of definition. When I got close to the tree line I noticed some the "bootprints" had 1-1/2 long "toe-nails". So I turnrned around headed to the gate down the trail I came. Track were either a bear or an adolescent "Big Foot"

Don't black bears walk with their claws in, like a cat? I thought that's how you tell the difference between a grizzly and a black bear track? Same with cats and dogs. Cat doesn't leave claw marks in their tracks, dogs do.

The bear that raided our beehives last year left definite claw prints and defined claw pads imprints in the snow. These track were well defined and it was a "small bear" as the prints were about 6" or in size. You can see the claws in this photo. they are about 3/4" long and appear somewhat retracted. I am not a bear expert. My wife's "adopted daughter" farm girl type friend played with a bear cub at a sanctuary and got herself all clawed up. I have enough problems with this stupid cat sitting on my keyboard.
The prints I saw hiking were old and the bear must have dragged it's feet thru the snow when it was deeper.

I don't think any bears have "retractable claws"; black bears have much shorter claws than brown (grizzlies) so they're not as obvious in the paw prints.

Cats don't so much retract the claws as they pull up the final joint of the toes which the claws are mounted on; in a relaxed state the end of the toe is pointing mostly up; they flex a muscle to pull the end of the toe down to "extend" the claws

THE NEW to me (Pre Owned) TOYS.
Our newest Vehicle out of 15. Very high mileage (+10.3K & 2400 Hours) on this 2019 RTV-1100C @ +10.5Miles bought to augment our old RTV900. $17K. The 1100C definitely not seen farm use, as most golf carts have been worked harder. Now it will have to earn its keep.
In 2024 we have spent $60K on new to us things with wheels. That includes all fuel, insurance, accessories, repairs, and upgrades, taxes & registration, camping trips, supplies, etc. Not planning on buying more stuff for a while.
