I have no idea what they did while checking my eyes, but my vision was very blurry on the way home. Gray car on asphalt, basically invisible.

I believe that a lot, if not most of the new led light bars people are using do not meet DOT specs. Most if not all of the units I've seen online only talk about off-road use.
Very few aftermarket LED replacement bulbs meet DOT specs. You can kind of get away with it with projector headlights if the LEDs are clocked properly, but in a reflector light it's glare city.
My Colorado with LED's doesn't seem to brighten when I turn on the high beams, it just adjusts the pattern. Very distinctive cut off line with the low beams, high just seems to open the eye lids all the way.
That's pretty much how projector headlights (regardless of bulb type) work.
I will reiterate this. It's been so long since I've had to turn my headlights on that I never even think about it anymore. After previous TBN discussions about DRLs and taillights, when I think of it I'll toss a glove up on the sensor in rainy or foggy weather.
Key words are "when I think of it."
My Colorado is a bit over-sensitive in that regard, even on a cloudy day it'll often put the headlights on. Kind of a PITA since it dims the dash lights making them harder to see.

Every vehicle I've owned with DRLs had auto headlights. Maybe it's just a GM thing.

At least you can now see these drivers headed towards you. They probably wouldn't have turned on their headlights anyway. Years ago I carpooled with a guy like that...it'd be almost pitch dark before he turned his lights on, and then only because I said something. In his case I think it was just absentmindedness.
My wife has gotten so used to auto headlights in her car that a couple times when driving my previous truck she wouldn't think to put them on until it was almost dark.

I run with my fog lights on all the time, they only work with the low beam head lights on. I have thought about getting into the programing and having them on 100% of the time. They brighten up the sides of the road and the ditches and brush were the damned deer jump out from. And they work good for corning lights also.
Easier to run a jumper wire than to program them to come on all the time. I've done this on the RAM 2500. Very effective. Also changed the fogs to LEDs, not the headlamps.

I hate the new RAMs and Chevy trucks with LEDs due to blinding on coming vehicles. When a truck is towing, the back end lowers, the front end raises. It is the WORSE combination for LED headlamp trucks on the road blinding everyone in front.

I use my day/night rear view mirror setting every night.

The newer larger vehicles are at a height with lamp intensity that is blinding when coming up behind a smaller car at night…

It’s a relatively new thing getting worse over the last few years.

And there is no way of adjusting them. I carry a snowsled in back most of the winter. It used to be SOP to pull up to the garage door in fall and adjust them down; then back up in the spring. Now I just blind oncoming drivers... Sorry folks, nothing I can do about it.

It’s a relatively new thing getting worse over the last few years.
I took my DWs SUV for ADDED window tinting due to her complaints of LED trucks and other bright LEDs vehicles are running behind her. It has helped her a great deal.

The window tinting companies are now making money hand-over-fist and requires a scheduled appointment 1-month in advance due to LED headlamps in this era.

Most of the tinting companies offer the tint in an anti polarized film now to cut over 60% of the LED glare while still seeing out the windows. Only at certain angles can you see the yellow anti-glare in the film.

I’m one of those people that only use my fog lights when it foggy. I kind of hate it when people leave them on all the time. If they are stock I agree, that’s won’t bother other drivers but people put different bulbs in that are brighter. To me fog lights just light things up really close to the vehicle.

Yeah, that's what we concluded when I got home. Don't want to drive like that again if I can help it.

Thankfully the 20/25 (or so they said) vision was fully functional again the next morning.
