Good morning!!!!

I'm going to dread my next electric bill.
Recycle came already, so got the can in before the wind picks up. With the snow and ice on top, that thing could blow for miles..
As the wind has now picked up, the house temp is going down. My feet are freezing, up in front of the pellet stove. Guess I should turn my chair more towards it, instead of away. Temp in house keeps going down, with units running non stop.
pellet stove needs cleaned out, but too cold to shut it down now. I did open the door and gave the heat plate a quick scrape, and shoved the ashes in the pan to the side to make room for more.
That reminds me, I have buckets of builders sand down in my shed, if I can get to it, but driveway is mostly flat, and no problem with the snow on it.

Problem with mail box, it is across a busy road, right up against a steep bank. Neighbor had carved out a little section when we build our houses for the mail boxes, but it has since filled back in from groundhogs digging above the boxes. Very dangerous working there with the traffic, very dangerous just to get the mail. Head has to be on a swivel.
Son left 10 minutes early for work, got there 5 minutes early, but no parking, lots not very well cleared. He had to park far away and long walk in the cold.

Working on my sunday night class I'm teaching. getting a couple weeks ahead.

successful morning
cleared off solar charger on rv, glad I went because it was blocked
then came home and made appt for rv on Feb 28 at rv repair place in Souderton.
Winter storage ends March 1 so leaving from there and going about ten minutes to the repair shop.

kept getting alarms from eufy, finally read it and it says low battery ??
ahhh, solar power, bet there's snow on the panel. Out I go..

Silly thought I know, Does your solar panel create enough power to run a heat lamp? That would be cool. A panel to charge battery with a heat lamp to keep ice and snow off panel. Or an inverter on battery to plug the light into. Vicious circle.

You would think someone would have come up with heated panels by now.

Just sleep deprived thoughts.

Morning started out with no start on the truck and the van is not back yet so no backup option. It had been on the battery maintainer. Hooked up the big charger with boost for start and after an hour it started. Found the Lithium boost starter pack to take along in case the engine would need to be restarted
Kept it running and went to the battery shop and replaced the batteries with Deka 850 Ah batteries with 3 year warranty. The 6.7 liter diesel takes 2 starter batteries
Picked up groceries and prescription.
Mechanic called and said alternator was replaced and van was back together again. He did not change the serpentine belts because he saw I had replaced them recently. He is now checking into the courtesy light issue.
Brought more wood inside to keep the stove going good.
The wood stove does a good job of keeping the living room area warm. Have to feed it wood every few hours. Set the Hyper heat MH mini split to 65 so if it drops off during the night it will take over. Feels pretty good in the morning to have the back up heat. The much larger multi fuel stove in the basement is only used a little in the morning and sometimes evening. It runs currently on fuel oil but can also run on wood and coal

20 watts won't do much, just a trickle charger
I had thought of putting some panels on the roof, rv is wired for it.
But more concerned over the truck battery.
I turn the generator on once a month and that hopefully tops off the house batteries.
of course starting the rv engine should bring the battery up but why not use some free power?
I have another use for this at home.

but still I have to run an ugly cord outside for my heated birdbath.
a full size 100Watt panel produces the heat of an old large sized light bulb...
the panel is black which helps melt snow and ice but to heat itself I think it would
siphon off too much of whatever little power it makes

My eufy solar has not kept up, I had to bring it in and USB charge last week.

Ran errands in town, I drove, wife ran in. One screw in mailbox alarm rounded off, trying to drill head off, but got too cold in garage. Might have to order a new case, or swap with my other one that lives inside.

colder time locally
Delaware River can get full of ice, second pic is looking over at Trenton NJ
Ken, is this Yardley pond?
might take a ride down there and see if any folks on it.
grew up ice skating on the canal below New Hope where you knew how
far you had gone by counting the red wooden foot bridges you went under.
Our family's farm went right down to the River so I always felt connected to it.
and always happy to live far above it.

what gets very bad is when you have lots of rain and ice melt on top of a frozen river and all this
surface ice, which is pretty rough stuff, now comes crashing on shore heading South and busts up all the trees
and your house if too close.
