When I take the Grand Touring out on the trails it looks old
It is old. But still a good sled. 488, if I remember correctly. I had a '96 Touring E that was fun to ride. With the 380 it wasn't fast, but did all that I needed it to. I used to punch it and lift the skis. That was more fun for me than doing 100 down the trail.

I bought a newer sled and put the Skidoo on Craigslist for $300, about half what I could have gotten for it. 11 hrs later I took it off because of the lowballers. I sold it to somebody who wanted it for his nephews to ride around in the field. He only had a 2WD truck so I offered to meet him at the end of my road. I left my driveway, of course doing one last ski stand. 😁😚 Then hit the throttle and smoked it a mile and a half down the road, parked it on the snowbank where we loaded it and I walked back home.
He seemed like a decent guy and I was glad that he got it.

Way back when, a friend sold me a Skiroule RTX 447 for $40 and it needed a recoil. Something like $15 bucks for a used recoil and I was up and running. It was one of my better trail machines.

In the "I'm going to fix it someday" category... This was the last new sled which my father bought, a 1973 Panther 400. He gave it to me about 25 years ago. I ran it until it started running poorly, plus the track was tired and you don't just go out and buy a 126x17" track.
I have the old leopard skin seat as well as a new windshield stored in my shed.

My first one as a kid was a old Olympic, the first sled I ever drove, we had to lift the ass end and put gas in the carb to start it, One day my dad fix it, and just to try it he put regular gas in it then he forgot and said lets go at it kids, we did 300 yard and we blew it up of course ...

Second one was a safari 377, I liked it, it was a good sled but it blew up on me and I had to walk a mile back, I was young and it was a long walk at that time...

Third was a Polaris Indy light 340, I got my hands on a studded track and it was clutch up, from 0 to 90km it was impressive but that was it after that, that sled last me for ever it was a good sled.

Forth was a scandic 500, I hated that sled, it was a cancer, I blew a few motor in it and the coil was burnt so as soon as it was warm it would loose power.

My fifth was a Polaris assault 800, it was a good sled when I sledded by myself but if I went with anyone I hated it because all my friends had ether trail sled or full snow sled like summits or RMK's and the assaults is a in between so it wasn't good in ether. Then it also turned into a money pit, (PS: they all do) I blew a few shocks, I rebuilt the motor just to blow it up on the crank later that season and lots of little things along the way so I put in a crate engine in it and sold it to recover my lost.

Now I have a bravo trapper edition (137) I love that thing, my wife has a Polaris 500 fan that's a good sled as well, its bullet proff

My dad has a Yamaha Viking 1000 4 stroke and that's a workhorse but also a cancer...

My next sled if I ever buy a other one it will be a Polaris 600, I think that's the best motor on the market and I am not a Polaris fan in general.

Whats considered vintage these days? The newest sled I had was a 2001 SRX 700, wish I hadn't sold it, that thing was FAST! I grew up riding late 70's and early 80's Yamahas though. Started with an Artic Cat Kitty Cat when I was like 5 then a Yamaha Sno-Scoot then a Yamaha Bravo 250 in my teens. Doubt I will ever get back into sleds though, they are just way too expensive now days.

We also suffer from a death of snow here.

My current sled is an Arctic Cat long track with a 400 single liquid cooled engine made by Yamaha. Sadly, both manufacturers have gone out of sleds. Cat is gone completely, although I just read a rumor that they may have been bought up.
