Good Morning,
Ct, 24 to start going to 38 ! Wow a heat wave, I will take it ! The gale force winds seemed to have subsided !

Kathleen just asked me what I’m doing today, my reply, not much after yesterday!😉 Then she asked me if I can take her car to emissions, Ok I just got my first job ! 😀

Scott, glad you learned helpful info....never know when your firehouse will add salad as an option
Billy, actually we cut up tomatoes and lettuce and onions for the burgers that we cook ! So I guess we can use that !

Sky is bright blue and sun is shining nicely so I guess it’s all good !

Kyle, prayers for your Mom, and hopefully your days off last long enough! 🙏

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

Good morning, the low is 0 and going to a high of 23°F. Wind E 2 mph. 60% chance of flurries. Snow tonight, about 2".

My hydro/electric bill is up 48 kwh over last month, total 553. That would be the block heaters. I pay $0.093/kwh for the first 1,000 kwh from November 1 til April 30. From May 1 til October 31 the price is still $0.093 but less kwh capped at 600. That is a better deal for me than the 'time of use' pricing. I don't have A/C to suck away the juice.

Not much planned for today, energy conservation day.

Have a safe day all

Good morning TBN!!
26 this morning with maybe another 5 or so degrees before the day ends. Under snow alerts. Could get the first accumulation in 3 years starting this afternoon. Dog should like it. He's not been in the snow yet.
Went out and tried the tractor yesterday to be sure I would be ready. Didn't start as I figured at 20 degrees. The will be a battery in my future. Small cheap jump pack and it started right up.
Puttered in the shop mostly moving things from one place to another. That way I will be sure to forget where I put them  :D
Couple of walks with the dog. My steps have been about cut in half with the cold weather. Still no otter so I guess he has moved to greener pastures. Apparently they have a territory of 3 to 15 square miles so maybe another day he'll be back.
No real plans for the day. The dog and I will probably play in the snow and the wife even said she may join us.
Time for second cup and get dressed. May split a little wood just in case. The old school way with an axe or a maul.

Everyone have a great and safe day!!

good morning, 16 to start with going to 32 and a little more snow is expected tonight

Sun had worked on driveway yesterday, clear pavement to walk on this morning with Cody. Wildlife is using the driveway at night is what Cody discovered this morning, lots of sniffing.

Loading more firewood on the RTV today for the next few days. Cold weather for the at least the next week.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 72F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Wish the news was better out of LA. Instead of making progress on the existing fires, new ones keep starting. One can only wonder how they start when there's no lightning to spark them. Human carelessness knows no bounds.

Glad your mom is making some progress, Kyle. Didn't know a medical condition could force the sale of her home, always thought that was beyond the reach of creditors.

Up and down day at the hospital yesterday. Friend went into surgery on time, but was late coming out. The surgeon installed the forked stent, and several more. Turns out there was a very small blood leak back into the anurism, not enough to keep it pressurized, so the risk of rupture is almost eliminated. But the leak is still concerning, none the less. The options were to wait for the blood thinners to leave the body and hope the leak seals itself, or go in and install more stents to bridge the leaking area, and also install a bypass artery to keep blood flow going to the arm. So we're stuck in a waiting game until Saturday when the surgeon'll order another CT scan. Then it's either discharge or another round of surgery. I don't know what they used for anesthesia, but it took a long time for my friend to wake up, and even when they did, their comprehension was as if they were still half asleep. Hoping they're better today. But that's also a two edged sword, as they're the figity type, and trying to keep them comfortable and entertained in a couped up room is going to be challenging.

TGIF gang!

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 20 going to a high of 34 today, snow expected later tonight into Saturday morning but that remains to be seen.

A much quieter week at work so far, the snow really helps put a damper on things. If I feel so inclined after work, I might get out and swap the snow push and bucket to burn the gargantuan pile of boxes that have arrived over Christmas. But if it's supposed to snow again, I don't know if I feel motivated enough to swap, might join L4N on the energy conservation front.

To quote one of my favorite cartoon characters "Nope, not gettin' out of this chair."

Prayers for those ailing or recovering, everyone else, please enjoy the day and be safe out there folks!

Good morning! 36˚F cloudy warming to 42˚ NW wind 15 mph.

1.16" of rain yesterday, no ice or snow flakes. Tonight will be the last night of freezing temps for a week, no rain forecast for a week. Potatoes survived under the hay and will remove the hay tomorrow. No new digging squirrel holes since I put out the coffee grounds in the yard.

Since I'm finished with PT and my shoulder feels good so I will start FireWise brush clearing again next week when they start up again after the holidays and cold weather. We reduce the fire load so we won't have a California. I wonder if the California neighborhoods now would be interested in volunteering to clear their underbrush. They can't control the winds but they can control the fire load.

That was exactly the situation in Paradise, CA, Don. My friend that used to live there kept his yard clear of pine needles, but just over his backyard fence, all his neighbors had a foot thick layer of it. They called it mulch, and would do nothing to clear it. I suspect that is a pretty common situation in most of what is burning now in LA.

Most older homes are not very ember tight, either. The new place down south was built in '81, and has big open vents under the eves at both ends. They've got screens over them that'll keep out insects and vermin, but not embers. They're on my list to upgrade, but then so is clearing off the four inches of redwood tree duff inn the back yard. And also installing steel fencing next to the house to break the fire chain from the cedar boards that was used for the rest of the yard. The asphalt shingles on the roof are only a couple years old, so that's no worry, but a lot of neighborhoods still have homes with cedar shakes for roofing. Doesn't take much of a spark to get those going.
