Good Morning from Central Texas.
At 6am is 44 degrees, headed to mid 50's. Later this week in the 70's !

The USAF (with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works) is developing the SR-72 Darkstar replacement for the SR-71 Blackbird. Speed is claimed at greater than mach 6 (or about 4,600mph) with a ceiling of 85,000 feet (or about 16 miles high) - proposed hypersonic reconnaissance and strike aircraft.
Is this it ? Cannot confirm.

three feet is a very respectable icicle!
not something to walk under

one of the differences between a broad form homeowners policy (HO-2) vs
special form homeowners (HO-3) is the inclusion of water backup due to icing on roof.
can be a big issue for folks up North. All risk form (HO-5) gives even broader coverage but
not usually worth the money.

this of course does not apply to California or Florida where the insurance carriers
don't want you at all

32 this morning but supposed to be in the low 50s under variable sky's.
Nothing too much yesterday. Walking and an extra walk for the dog on the 4 wheeler.
Some of the games. Probably going to be a good Superbowl.
I gotta do my civic duty this week. I need to be in town to report for jury duty at 1: PM Probably not much else today and maybe for the whole week
Also going to accompany the wife to the vet to get the dog and cat routine check ups and then I'll head for town.

Good Morning,
Vt, 19 to start going to 32 ! Mostly clear skies now with a little breeze ! I’m planted in front of the wood stove again, seems like the right place to be on a winter morning !

We will be heading out later today, as I understand it from Kathleen we have kids on and off from Tuesday though Thursday!

Spike, that SR-72 looks awesome , can’t imagine traveling at that speed ! You can see how important staying on top of the technology curve is in our world ! I’m guessing Paul would like taking a ride in that thing !

good morning, 23 going to 43 more melting today. a few patches of ice from yesterdays melt, don't need any falls

story yesterday about rescue of skier falling 1000 ft and get helicopter rescued because his Apple Watch activated SOS signal. Nice to hear it is working

Cleaned out ashes and started the fire. Walked Cody. Need to work on taxes to be ready for accountant

I hope Happy has a good jury experience.
Being a jurist is hugely important, and I'd love to be called again.
when one has been an underwriter for so long, to some degree you have been
passing judgement on other folks constantly. Plus I come from a family of lawyers, none of which
have ever done personal injury or criminal work, just contract law.
So I have some experience with folks telling the truth and folks not telling the truth. Lots of it.

one trial was for a crack dealer in Lower Bucks, at the Courthouse in Doylestown.
I'd never seen a crack vial before. Nor since...
we had to let the guy go despite finding out later he had 8 priors. Somehow inadmissable.
really bad paperwork got him off. Detective apologized to the jury afterwards, because we were ticked
we had to let the drug dealer go.

so you never know what you will get.

one thing I hope I wouldn't have to be on a jury for is some amendment rights case.
Youtube is full of people almost taunting the police with their rights, and yes some of them are right.
Some are real idiots who are just looking for clicks. They won't offer ID when requested. I can't imagine when I would not
provide ID to a legitimate police officer. He sure isn't going to find anything

all kinds of probable cause issues, often only settled in appellate court or higher.
huge arena of rights of which guns are just one small part. Because of required cameras now, lot of issues
in traffic stops and asking to enter someone's home. Sovereign rights, eminent domain, these seem to change over time.

yes I want to protect your rights but you can't act like an idiot either endangering others. Or can you...
My concern is for the growing number of folks getting into it with the police
because they are recording for Youtube or TikTok.
and there will always always be folks who cross the line just to see what happens when they test the limits.
like a top gun of stupidity.
and the police are supposed to deal with this huge range of bad behavior remaining calm and totally reasonable.
