Chryslers grandson wants to save the brand

I do see the electric connector he mentioned. They don't appear That expensive, like $180/pair new, but I'm guessing they are a pain to replace.

I had to pick up a rental car through work today, and got a Jeep Grand Cheeroke hybrid. One really annoying thing, every time you take your foot off the gas, it feels like it is actively breaking probably hybrid motors giving resistance? Also, it took several minutes to figure our how to work the AC and all that. It is nice, but the tech side is a bit too much. I like knobs over a touch screen.

Also, as with the Explorer, "Lane keeping assist" is not just useless, it keeps trying to take you over the yellow line, into on comming traffic.

No kidding, you have to bring along rent year old to run the tech stuff ! The active regen/breaking is ok when you get used to it but switching between vehicles that have it and ones without take a retraining moment. The lane keeping assist was one of the first things we switched off !

Not unique to EV's. I rented an Audi Q5 on vacation last summer, an ICE, and it was a few days before I stopped absolutely hating every feature about the thing. It had the least intuitive controls I've ever seen in any vehicle... for everything.

By the end of the week, I could appreciate what they were going for in their various design decisions, it was actually a nice vehicle. But my God... not something you want to hop into at the airport and pull straight out onto the highway. I was a road rage incident just waiting to happen, the first hour behind that wheel. :D

Not the most impressive milage. 23 mpg combined on the gas motor. 26 miles of all electric range, after 2-3 hours of household charge... Honestly, that's probably a one way trip to work for most people, so, maybe that would be practical, depending on the electric cost to charge, and/or employer charging while at work.

It did ride pretty good, and was a pretty nice, mid sized vehicle. Didn't pull HP/torque numbers, but its fine for pulling from a dirt road onto a busy 65 mph highway from a dead stop, and not feeling under powered.

That’s actually pretty close to round trip for average commuter in US. The census bureau tracks distribution of commute times, but there is not nearly as much data on commute distances. However, average commute times hold pretty consistently near 25 minutes +/-4 minutes, and average trip speed is usually below 30 mph for all those excepting a high ratio of uncongested expressway driving. And for those doing mostly expressway, efficiency and range will be better anyway.

I suspect 26 mile range probably means just enough to get to work and home on all electric, for the “average” commuter.

26 mile or 41km... i havent had work that close to home in 20 years... one way, that is...
I dont think I have Ever lived within 45 minutes of any job... But I also understand I'm probably an outlair on the statistics. My sister and her husband are like 4 minutes from door to work. I can't even imagine that.

Do they work in retail or supermarket ? Here in Holland, there are so many stores and the wages in retail so much lower that these jobs are local..
